Logic behind not having price on join page?
I have been trying to figure out what the logic behind not having a price on the join page could be? It seems to me that would dramatically decrease signups. Who wants to select an access option (ie. 3 day trial, 15 day trial, 30 days full, 90 days full etc..) without knowing the price of it?
I now see that if you select an access option (with no price listed) then click submit and go to the processor page, you will see the price. I wonder how many surfers stop right there on join page because of not having a price clearly listed? I put my self in the surfers shoes, and I myself would stop on the join page and find another site that clearly tells me how much I will be charged and for what. Anyone have opinions or thoughts on this and what you think it does for a ratio? |

Mean people suck, nice people swallow, are you mean or nice?

I think the sponsor is making a BIG mistake. Have you contacted them and asked why they have their join page that way?

My guess is that it's like the sites that have $2 trials and $69 renewals. They don't need many to make a buck.

I saw one last week with a 3 day free trial that stated it converted to a monthly membership if not canceled, but I could not find what the monthly price was anywhere (and I actually read the entire Terms page)
They also had 2 cross-sales pre-clicked |

No matter how good you are at something, there's always about a million people better than you

TopBucks does that. Basically you have to provide your email address and select an access option before you get to see the prize of what you just selected. Seems totally idiotic to me, but then again I read mostly nice things about them on the boards and elsewhere so I guess they must be doing something right. I reviewed all of TB's sites for a review site and felt obliged to mention the actual prizes in most of those reviews. Information wants to be free!

Licker - I didn't contact them and ask why, being such a big program I figured they knew something I didn't. GG - on these tours you can see what the monthly rebill will cost you, just not the price of the initial signup until you reach processor page. Sirmoby - Thanks for reply, could be. |

Are you sure this is the Sci-Fi Convention? It's full of nerds!

Yupers I think it's a bonkers move myself. But if it works for other people/programs then all the power to them.

Oh yeah - I got that part but reading your post reminded me of the site I saw that seemed to take it one step further by never telling them the price.

That which does not kill us, will try, try again.

I'm not sure how valuable it is anymore, but it used to be a way to have already captured a surfer's email address even if they decided not to join on the next page.

Based on the spam I get these days, there's still a lot of non-adult email marketing going on

Maybe it's a cultural thing? I hear some people like to negotiate the product before they talk price... it's rude, or motivates the producer to make lower quality shit, or something.
But I see too many sales from people who seem price conscious... so I don't get what topbucks is doing.

If I pass a shop window and they hide the price tags on the objects in the window I don't go into the shop.

I agree... consumers aren't stupid. I think the highest converted sites are the ones that offer that preview vid stuff, but let you know about what it will be to join too. What do you think. Of course there are people out there that want to take advantage of that free thing. lol. Everyone likes something free.
