**Public Apology to Phat Bucks and Sic Cash**
Recently I have suffered from my certain sponsor urls being redirected to R@pe sites and other non related adult sites.
I posted a warning on another webmaster board asking if anyone else is affected by these redirects when using Phat bucks and SicCash Sponsor links. Everyone else was ok but myself and another webmaster were being redirected to some pretty gross sites. I run a pretty tight ship when it comes to internet security or so I thought, I have hourly updated AV software,Adaware,Spybot Search and Destroy ad a few others ,as well as always having the latest Microsoft patches and security updates installed. I found it quite unlikely that something could get all this. But last night I proved myself totally Wrong. After installing http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/ the program is called hijack this It found many entries in my registry file and after I deleted them and reset my PC my surfing returned to normal They also have a support forum here http://forums.spywareinfo.com/ http://www.greenguysboard.com/board/...5262#post15262 I would like to extend my Apologies to both Phat bucks and Sic Cash for wrongly pointing the finger of blame at them for the redirection. I know know 100% for sure that they were NOT RESPONSIBLE for this in any way shape or form. I would like to remind anyone that read that thread and may have removed Phat Bucks of Sic Cash links as a result of my posting that you have acted on wrong information. |badidea| Thanks Everyone for taking the time to read this as it has the potential to effect all of us.. I hope the perps of this redirection are caught and dealt with unjustly and I have a special message for them very much Now if you excuse me I'm going to shut my mouth before I put my Foot in it again Regards, Wicked1 |

24 hours in a day, 24 beers in a case. Coincidence? I think NOT!

Redirection at the moment is ripe... particularly for non US surefers... Wicked ... good for you for checking and being suspicious... but even better for you for saying sorry to any sponsor you thought may be doing it... we all jump to conclusions once in a while but it takes a good person to say they were wrong

Surfn, I was wondering if there is a way of setting a North American browser to appear as a UK version to a site?
UK is probably the worst (best) because it's got the highest dialer cost and is targeted more often. |

You could set your browser but it's complicated and time consuming. |

Stupid risks make life worth living

As one of the partners of PhatBucks, I just wanna say I'm glad you got this straightened out. Just like I said from the very beginning, we only deal with reputable sponsors and I had strong suspicions SicCash wouldn't do this type of thing. As I posted on Danger Dave's forum, I originally thought it was spyware and turns out I was correct.
I'm glad this is all corrected and we can all pimp together again in the near future!!

Hi DoubleP Pleased to meet you
I was beging to wonder if it was just me feeling that way about being redirected to dialers automaticly due to my location. All to often I sign up to promote things only to find I have a page full of links that redirect to a dialer so i have no fricking idea what or where I'm sending traffic to ???. I do understand that certain countries may not convert well for whatever reason and stats may show this, it 's just the fact if you happen to reside in one of these locations makes it very frustrating. I feel very disapointed after reading all the usual hype that we pay on all exits etc, only to find all exits lead to a dialer at my end. I'm left wondering if I'm promoting a real sponsor or an underhanded traffic trader that has no respect for the time and effort we put in to send them traffic to begin with. I truly hope I'm reading the play wrong here just because of my location but thats what it looks like from where I sit. Also note these comments are not refering to the Sponsors mentioned at the begining of this thread !. I always say opinions are based largely on the perspective of the viewer, from another point of view I'm constantly meeting Aussie surfers that have been caught out by dialers after clicking free porn links only to find that 45 mins of looking at pretty average free porn cost them $174 AUD !!! and put them in a very embarassing situation with thier partner. With our Aussie Dollar rising in value against the greenback we may end up with a nation of surfers that are interested in paying for porn but are too afraid to as they have seen whats happend to others that got caught out with dialers. My point is ,repeat business what i aim to build with surfers and that is near impossible to do when you take their trust and reward that trust with financial and emotional loss when the phone bill comes in.. Would you come back for seconds ?. Regard, Wicked1 |

*Hi DoubleP Pleased to meet you
Hi Wiked1 :-) *I was beging to wonder if it was just me feeling that way about being redirected to dialers automaticly due to my location. Haha! You are not alone! And while I have nothing against giving a surfer a choice, and bearing in mind that there are surfers who don't mind using diallers to connect to services, especially here in Europe, it's the way that the option itself is presented to the user - 9 times out of ten, it's a shed load of new windows, those full screen chromeless ones are my pet hate - were you have to alt/f4 to get rid of them - a lot of surfers don't actually know how to do that... and the never ending prompts to download the connection kit... I don't know, maybe it's just me, but it reeks of desperation.. *I always say opinions are based largely on the perspective of the viewer, from another point of view I'm constantly meeting Aussie surfers that have been caught out by dialers after clicking free porn links only to find that 45 mins of looking at pretty average free porn cost them $174 AUD !!! and put them in a very embarassing situation with thier partner. Yep! I have heard many stories from people I know back home in the UK, where they have had diallers installed on their computer and it has dialled into a service without their knowledge... they find out when they get the phone bill!! Only this year I had to log on to my son's computer from here and remove a dialler that installed itself. He's only 16, he and his mates were surfing porn on his machine.. it flew him into blind panic in case his mum found out.... I'm sure there are many husbands who have had similar experiences with the Mrs! With our Aussie Dollar rising in value against the greenback we may end up with a nation of surfers that are interested in paying for porn but are too afraid to as they have seen whats happend to others that got caught out with dialers. Good point, the falling U.S. dollar is actually making buying porn attractive, especially in the UK..... but surfing for it is like playing Russian Roulette *My point is ,repeat business what i aim to build with surfers I would keep that aim Wicked1... surfers know when they have found something worth coming back to!! :-)) |
