Hardcore Content on Free Sites

Sheesh, I've been so far out of the loop lately that I just now noticed ARS has radically changed their business structure. Oh, well. Looks like it's catch up time.

Here's a thought provoking article I just read about hardcore content on free sites. It does make some sense. In other words, if we don't self-regulate ourselves regarding the level of hardcore content we allow on our sites, then the government will.

I wonder if the author's been hiding under a rock.

Seriously, this is a topic that's been tossed around for years, literally. I agree that we shouldn't be putting hardcore on free sites; I also think we shouldn't be putting hardcore on TGP galleries.
But try to get listed with a purely softcore gallery.
At least on free sites the LL owners have more common sense and *most* will list your site with no harcdcore.

I think the old argument simply said: hardcore displayed on free sites was bad for sales. But I think the point the author makes in this new article is that too much free harcore might grab more attention than the industry wants, especially from people like Ashcroft and the Right-Wing crowd. In other words, if we don't want the government breathing down our necks, we had better start a self-regulating process and encourage other webmasters to follow it. It would be good for sales and good for the longevity of the industry.

I don't need to read that article, like Carrie said it's been tossed around since I got into the biz.

They are DREAMING if they think webmasters will start to make all softcore and teasing content sites and galleries Dreaming! We're talking about 1000s of webmasters whom most don't know each other to all say sure, no more hardcore. Not going to happen unless it is forced.

How can it be forced? TheHun, Worldsex and others could change their rules to softcore only.
Ok, now that I'm back on my chair, LOL, that won't happen because they're scared their surfers will go elsewhere for hardcore and I would be too.

And regarding the quote Fisty posted from the article "hardcore displayed on free sites was bad for sales" is Not true.

A video gallery for example I did recently featuring a Mom/Milf site had some kissing, bj action and then the last clip had an intense hard sex scene and the gallery is selling great. Why? The couple in the gallery are really going at it. Great teaser to join the paysite and see more hot action like that.

PS. Possibly, Zero hardcore available outside a paysite would be great for sales, but that is not a reality unfortuneately.

What Ramster said.

This debate has been raging forever. IMO choose what works for you and stick with it. Simple really.

But couldn't it be rationalized that these are surfers who were not going to buy anyway? The freebie seekers will always move from site to site, looking for a gallery that will get them off for nothing. These are essentially bandwidth hogs that will never earn us any money.

With the current right-wing agenda in the US, and alarming trends that are hastening the demise of people like Howard Stern, I just think it's wise to avoid anything that might create negative publicity in this industry. If there ever is a government crack down on Internet porn, it will effect everyone, not just those who operate in the US. Isn't it better to be safe than sorry?

Of course, as we speak I'm creating the sleaziest, drool-drenching gallery imaginable, just in case I'm wrong. haha..

This industry IS Negative publicity. You think my neighbors would care if I said "No, I only put nude photos of 18 and 19 year olds on the web. None of them fucking, that's inside the paysite I promote to make money off of. "

I hear what you are saying, but people outside our industry feel negative towards it most of the time whether they can find soft or hard photos on the web. If it was all softcore on the web right now today, the government would find something else wrong with what we do.

And I'm off to submit my hardcore sex video gal I just made on CrackWhores. |rasta|

Hardcore on free site and gallerys are not good for sales either......but then all the reality sites only have hardcore promo content, and as long as they keep having that were gonna see more and more hardcore on free sites......

Yeah, it's probably one of those "damned if we do, and damned if we don't" kind of things.

Haha...Crack whores. Now there's one to bring home to the folks.

"Mom, I'd like you to meet my crack whore girlfriend. Yes, she slept in her own vomit last night, but she's really a nice person.
;-p
