Aw, Dad, you've done a lot of great things, but you're a very old man, and old people are useless

Baksetball is now over...you watching Baseball?
Honestly I've grown tired of baseball...used to be a rabid Texas Rangers fan but with the constant moving around of players especially those like Pudge Rodriguez I feel no need to be loyal any longer.
So another summer without the boys of summer to keep me entertained

Tribe? The Mistake On The Lake?
I'll watch it if the Yankees are on or if I like the pitcher...Nascar seems to be eating up my weekend these days |

Nope, this is the dead time for me, I watch the NBA draft, and then start watching who's what and where in NFL and NCAA Football as I count down the days to kickoff.
I watch MLB playoffs only; the rest is too long.... |

You don't have to pay much attention to it until something happens...LOL But I've lost interest because there is no real loyalty in the sport anymore on the part of owners or players. You take a guy like Ivan Rodriguez one of the best catchers of all time who even goes so far to take a paycut so they can bring in key players and what happens? Rangers turn around a few years later and let him go. Did the same with Palmeiro in his first trade to Baltimore....They wanted the same amount of money and Palmeiro ended up being clearly the better choice....he's one of the most underrated ball palyers around IMO. Sure he's getting old but the guy had steady skills real consistent. Anyway crap like this has tainted me...Rodriguez was the last straw I haven't watched a Ranger game since.

In 1987 I lived in downtown Minneapolis.
Walked to the Dome, sat in the cheap seats in right field all summer. Must have gone to 20-25 games. I was there on some nights with only 10,000 in attendence. Think I could get tickets when they make the playoffs???? I haven't watched much since then. Though I'm with GG - Nascar is fun to watch. (though on the Speed Channel you also get Formula One - which may not have a big following in the usa, but man that's another fun one to watch)

F1 is in Indy this weekend, HUGE increase of $ for Indy, we are 50 miles from the track and most of the local area rooms are sold out.
I also do not like "fair weather" fans. I'm a die hard Purdue Football fan and die hard Pacer fan. I spent 13 years dieing every year for Purdue because of all the dumb ass plays, dumb ass politics and dumb ass coaches who ran the program into the ground. Now we are back, one of only 10 programs who have gone to 7 straight bowl games, and we still do not sell out every game. We were season ticket holders until last year (we thought we were moving) and this year we ARE moving so we didn’t get them this year either. But the first question I’m asking the cable provider is if they offer a “Big Ten Football” package, if not we are getting DSS. |

They have a boat load of games, but not if you move like 50 miles away. If you move cross country - you should have most of them. Maybe not the whole seasons worth, but I'd say more than half. I haven't purchased them, but I have purchased the NBA Season pass. Which after I thought about it, was a waste of money. NBC or whomever on Sunday, TNT on Tuesday and TBS on Thursday. And most other nights there were no games played. I don't have 4 screens in my living room to watch 4 games at a time.. LOL

dare - were you in Minneapolis during the early 90's? I remember there being a stretch of about 12 months where Minnesota teams were in the NHL finals, MLB Finals, Minneapolis hosted the Superbowl as well as the NCAA Final 4.
Does that sound correct? My brain is fried due to all the drinking I did back then, but I do remember "Minnesota" coming up a lot for the major sports |

GG -
I can't remember what year it was, we were living 60 miles South by then, out in the country. But yes, there was like a World Sports event damn near every month it seemed. Super Bowl was pretty neat to watch (on tv) - Knowing all those famous people had to actually look at a map to figure out where in the hell Minnesota was? That was fun More than a few of them thought they could go the headwaters of the Mississippi. Then they found out, 1 the park isn't open all year, 2 it's cold as hell here in winter, and 3 it's a 5 hour drive One Way. LOL I don't think so many private jets have left from the 3 local airports any faster after than after that game! All the True Sports fans (there to actually watch) all seemed to be really nice. Tried to get tickets for the Final 4 but didn't want to pay 12 times list price. Though again in the 80's remember seeing David Rivers (not Doc) and Nortre Dame in the Midwest Regionals at the dome.

I don't have to see all the games (that would be nice) but I want to be able to watch the Big Ten over the acc/sec (YUCK)
Worse case I get DSS for 3 months a year! |
