Thumbs up TGPX Tip For Importing Galleries From File

I've been using the Import From File option in TGPX a lot lately. I use a spreadsheet, copy* the data to Textpad, replace the tabs with a pipe (|) and copy/paste it into the textbox. I know this isn't exactly news, but what is news is that I was able to add a drop down menu to select categories instead of guessing & constantly forgetting it's "Butts" and not "Butt" or having to go to the Manage Categories page & copy/pasting from there. And you can simply copy/paste the form into multiple cells for when you have multiple categories.

*For multiple categories, you have to copy/paste just them 1st into Textpad, replace the tabs with a comma, copy/paste them back into the 1st category column, and then do the rest (otherwise you have all your categories separated by pipes & TGPX thinks they are different fields)

Also, the Scheduled column is formatted so that TGPX likes the date. The rest of the cells are formatted to Clip any Text Wrapping

EDIT TO ADD:
To have your categories in the drop down menu, copy & paste them on the far right where mine are. I'm 99.44% sure that will work, but if not, LMK & I'll walk you thru setting it up

So if anyone wants it, it should be accessible via this link:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...it?usp=sharing

EDIT TO ADD:
You can't see the drop down menus when you go look at that link because I have editing turned off, but if you download it to your drive or to Excel, the drop down menus are there (you'll see the arrow in the cells in Google Sheets, but you do have to click the cell in Excel to see the menu)

EDIT TO ADD:

Make sure to read the "If I Knew Then What I Know Now" version that was added 2018-06-06

Awesome. I've only used the Import from File-feature for quite some time now, but not on your level.
You improved my workflow with this. I'll try it asap

I am finding it does speed things up a lot, especially with stuff like you want to schedule 10-20 galleries from one sponsor for listing every other day. Putting "=I2+2" in the cell below the date & then copy/pasting it into the date cells next to a list of galleries is a hell of a lot easier then doing it by hand or using the calendar in the admin.

The idea for the drop down came to me when I was going to sleep last night, so I'm glad that I remembered to try it as well as figuring out how worked

-------

If anyone does need help with anything as far as this or any spreadsheet, just ask. While I've had no formal training with them, I'll pat myself on the back & say that I'm pretty fucking good when it comes to spreadsheets

This one I don't really get. (Remember, I seriously suck at spreadsheets. It's math, y know...)
How do I put that formula 'behind' the date?

And, when I copy and paste the date into a new field, will it then auto-update according to formula?

So if I get this correctly, when I import a preview-url, I can get the scanner to crop that image. (in other words, scanner will not try to import from gallery-url (and often get a 302)?

This ain't math Let's say you have 10 galleries & you want to schedule 1 for every other day. On the example I posted where the date is 2018-02-14 00:00:00, click the cell below the date. Then:
1 - Type = on your keyboard
2 - Click the cell above it with the date
3 - Type + and then the number of days you want to add to the date in the cell above it
4 - Hit Enter on your keyboard.

Using my example from above where you're adding 2 days to the date, before you hit enter it'll read:
=I2+2
When you hit Enter, it'll read:
2018-02-16 00:00:00

Now, right click & copy that cell with the 2018-02-16 00:00:00 date in it. Then select the next 8 cells under the date & paste. That will give you:
2018-02-14 00:00:00
2018-02-16 00:00:00
2018-02-18 00:00:00
2018-02-20 00:00:00
2018-02-22 00:00:00
2018-02-24 00:00:00
2018-02-26 00:00:00
2018-02-28 00:00:00
2018-03-02 00:00:00
2018-03-04 00:00:00

Bob's your uncle

One thing to note when using formulas in spreadsheets (the "=I2+2" thing is a formula): before you sort anything, select all the (in this case 10) cells that have a date in them, then right click & copy. Then right click & select Paste Special ---> Paste Values Only. That will change the cell from being a formula to being just the date.

If you're not going to sort anything, ignore all that

No. That's what I hoped it'd do. The only way you can import thumbs is if the Preview URL is the size of the thumb you want to use. Otherwise, what I do after I import is search the galleries & check the Thumbs No Preview box. Then I go to each gallery, save an image to use for the thumb, and import/crop it by clicking the green up arrow under where the thumb would be displayed.

Hope all that is clear enough for your math deprived brain

One other thing about dates & Google Sheets: I have the properties of the cells in the Scheduled column set to be Year-Month-Date Hours:Minutes:Seconds with 2 digits for everything except the year. If you double click a cell with a date in it, a calendar will pop up where you can click a different date. Problem is it'll either remove the preceding 0 from the hours:
2018-02-14 0:00:00
Or it'll shitcan the Hours:Minutes:Seconds completely:
2018-02-14
It's fucking

The way around this is to copy a cell with a date in it. Then double click the cell you want a date in & paste the date in there. Before you hit enter, edit the date by hand (try it & you'll see what I mean) You have to do this because TGPX must have the date like this:
2018-02-14 00:00:00
And it gets really confused if the date is like this:
2018-02-14 0:00:00

WHOOPS! I had to edit the Scheduled column because TGPX didn't like the date format I had in there. It has to be:
2018-02-14 00:00:00

I had this in there, which I copied from the admin:
02-14-2018 12:00am
But I just imported some & none of them were scheduled

I also had to format the Scheduled column to be Plain Text because Google Sheets was taking the 1st zero off the timestamp:
2018-02-14 0:00:00

Of course, this fucks you if you want to do that automatic date trick I described above

Let me work on this.....

Ignore all that - I think I fixed it.

BUT if you already saved a copy, go grab the version I have on there now just to be safe

I might be missing something here but why are you going through the textpad, etc when you could just go file->Download As->comma-separated to get your .csv file format that it appears you are creating?

I am probably missing something. But since I don't use TGPX it really doesn't matter ;p

TGPX Import From File requires pipe delimited text files. That makes sense when you consider that a comma within a description is likely, where a pipe is not.

That and I f'ing hate csv files. Excel gets really confused anytime you change anything that isn't simple text in a cell. Like if you make a column wider so you can read it, then click save. It tells you you're saving it & that it's not compatible & blah blah blah. If you then click OK, the file is saved. But when you close the window, it asks you if you wanted to save the file, which you just did. So you click Yes & it asks you want file name you want to save it as (as if you selected Save As instead of Save) So you save it as the file name it currently is & it warns you that you're over-writing the file, then gives you the blah blah blah warnings again. It's f'ing mind numbing

Excel also tends to put text fields within quotes when you export to text.

I just create my import file in EditPad (NotePad on steroids), with no category, then select category or three when I make thumbs. I use the same file across three sites, and the categories aren't the same.

Toby - TGPX Question for ya: I just did an import & for the 1st time, I included a Preview URL image to use as the thumb, but I didn't crop it ahead of time. Am I missing something or is there no way to crop/edit the image I sent in with the import?

You didn't miss anything, there's no way to auto-crop an imported image. What you can do however, is set up the gallery scanner to crop the imported images after you've completed the import.

Sadly, most galleries these days 302 Redirect, which causes TGPX to think the link is broken & thus, no images from the gallery show up

If you export with the Direct URL instead of the 'regular' url in NATS, many programs will give you a link that does not give a 302.
Unfortunately, this is not true for all

I have to run the ASSIL shortly, but I just looked at the example I posted in Feb & I think I have some new bells & whistles for it. I'll work on it later this afternoon.

Here's the "If I Knew Then What I Know Now" version: TGPX Spreadsheet For Importing Galleries v2.0

The only difference is that the data for the dropdown menus is stored on a seperate sheet because the way I had it, that data was in the far left column & if you sorted the sheet by any other column, it'd fuck up the category list which is in alphabetical order.

Also, each of the dropdown menus is set to read the entire column off the CategoriesData sheet, so when you edit the categories over there to match your categories, you don't have to worry about the dropdown menus looking in a specific range of cells.

Speaking of the category dropdowns, if you click the little down arrow* on the right, it'll show you all the categories & then you can click the one you want. But, if you click anywhere else in the cell, you can simply type the 1st letter of the category you want & it'll bring up just those categories that start with that letter. What's even cooler is that if you have 1 TGPX running a bunch of sites & you have your categories coded for each site, typing the 1st letter will work for those, too. Example:
These are the categories for Anal Sex Fest:
zASF-Amateur
zASF-Asian
zASF-AssToMouth
zASF-BBW
zASF-BigAss
zASF-BigCock
zASF-Black
zASF-Gaping
zASF-Group
zASF-Hardcore
zASF-Interracial
zASF-Latina
zASF-Lesbian
zASF-Mature
zASF-Milf
zASF-Petite
zASF-Rough
zASF-Teen
The sheet I use has just those categories in the dropdown. If you typed "G" into the cell, you'd expect to see nothing, because none of those categories start with the letter G. Instead, you get just:
zASF-Gaping
zASF-Group
I don't know if it works in Office/Excel, but is does in Google Sheets.

* Remember, to see those, you have to download the spreadsheet & then open it in Office/Excel or Google Sheets or whatever.

Now, Jolly asked about Tags & Keywords. If you want to use any of the other fields (see below) all you have to do is insert a column somewhere before All Cats, put the title in the 1st row & Bob's your uncle. And, the order the columns are in doesn't matter except for your 1st import as long as you use them in that order each time. The 1st time you import, you select what field matches your data once you click Analyze Input. TGPX will default to what you used for those fields the previous import. The one problem I have encountered with this is if you use a date field for some of the galleries you're importing. Most of the time, if it's a blank field, TGPX leaves it blank. But if it's a date that blank, it puts some really strange date in there that you can NOT edit once the gallery is imported. So be careful with dates

All TGPX Import Fields in alphabetical order:
Categories
Clicks
Date of Deletion
Date Scheduled
Description
E-mail Address
Format
Gallery URL
Icons
Keywords
Nickname
Partner
Preview Size
Preview URL
Sponsor
Submit IP
Tags
Thumbnails
Type
Weight

If anyone has questions, just ask. If you're stumped, I'd be more than happy to with your copy of the spreadsheet if you want. I can fuck shit up on a scale of biblical proportions, but one thing I am good at is data & spreadsheets

I'm using OpenOffice, but does anyone know this:

If I import a list of Url's (by using paste-unformatted), how do I get the cells to understand that what is imported should be seen as a clickable url?

Right now I have to manually go into each cell and 'edit' to change that.
Which kinda kills the point of doing this to simplify
