Shut up brain, or I'll stab you with a Q-tip!

Anyone know which sponsor autoinstalls the
Begin2search toolbar? Anyone??? so I can remove all of their links from my stuff. My computer was fine this morning, and then I started working on signing up for new sponsors and checking out the sites and getting link codes and the damn thing installed from a series of pop-ups from one of the sites on exit. But the problem is I was doing alot all at the same time and can't tell where it came from. It is one of the ones I just signed up for which would be MegaPornBucks, Perfect Gonzo, Next Door Cash, or LotzaDollars.
Either way, just wanted to send a great big ol' THANKS! to whatever sponsor it is because after everything including Spybot, Adawware, and HIjack This I STILL can't get rid of all of it |

I don't know which sponsor installed it but I went to the Begin2Search website and it looks pretty easy to uninstall. You just go here and download this uninstaller:

I have Google toolbar in my browser. It blocks almost every pop up. No spyware for long time. Still, I cross my fingers.

If there is nobody out there, that's a lot of real estate going to waste!

I find CWShredder is the best tool for getting rid of these trojans.

Thanks for the tip Jen Much appreciated...still a pain in the ass though and was more difficult than expected because apparently some of it was removed when I did the Hijack This, but not all of it which made the uninstaller a pain.
Anyway, for those interested, the sponsor who loaded it into their sites was MegaPornBucks, which is someone I will be deleting links from and never ever using for anything. Thanks again Jen.... |

Thanks for the heads up about that sponsor.
There are a few other sponsors who have taken to doing autoinstalls, more often on foreign traffic than domestic. |

NO! Im not a female - but being a dragon, I do eat them.

After running into the same problem with another sponsor I found out it's usually not the sponsor that is doing it - they get fed those pop-ups from other sources, and usually the downloads are put in by their popup suppliers - someone trying to make a quick buck - in my case it took a simple email to the sponsor to get the offending popup (they will find it if they care) removed. Im my case, the sponsor was one of the largest out there and they didnt have a clue that it was happening

Webmasters are being offered around 5 cents per toolbar install, which they say works out to around 10 bucks pay per thousand visitors that hit your site on average... virtually guaranteed. If you own a small linksite or TGP with 5000 daily unqiues.. would an instant extra $1500 per month attract you? maybe, maybe not... But if you are a 21 year old that has an mp3 site or gaming forum that has made fuck all for years... and this guy comes along talking 10s of thousands of dollars per month potential.. not many would say "no thanks" imho Add to that incentive that the rep will probably say its legal, and show you how Disney, IBM, or similar are buying the advertising and try and make you feel silly for not joining the goldrush... Anyhoo... maybe this was common knowledge but it's something I only learned recently and thought was valuable to know. Bill.. you have an E ;-) *edit: btw, if you are thinking of joining the goldrush.. I dont expect it will last long.. Once the bulk of potential victims for forced downloads are exhausted (about 15-20% of surfers apparently) I doubt they will continue the brokered deals ongoing. So calculate the profit of prostituting yourself based on a few months income only is my suggestion. (and please dont contact me privately asking where to sign-up.) And one larger banner ad network is accused of auto-installing shit on surfers via their banners ... and blaming "rouge advertisers" .. not sure of name but apparently they serve many of the mainstream cinema movie banners you see about.. if you use one of those ones.
