I think most people start out by making free sites to submit to link lists. Blogs are also good but remember to try and keep them niche specific.

I started making free sites and submitting to link lists. Doing that is good and starting a few blogs would be smart to start out with I think. It takes a long time to make money though, just keep that in mind.

Start #1, circa 1997:
I had some web design skills and did some web sites for cam girls. Contacts from that led to partnering with a couple of other guys to do adult hosting for amateur cam sites. Then I got out of the biz for about four years. Start #2, circa 2003: I started with a site that defies definition, but the closest label would be a hub. Never made much money from that site, but got a real education in building and filtering traffic. From there I started building fetish niche TGP sites, which is still where I make most of my money today. (see sig) I don't recommend following either of those paths today, it's a far different landscape these days. |

My tranny neighbor from up the street came to my front door and asked me to help her with her site.

Hi Mike,
AWEmpire gives you all the tools you need to get started in this business. You simply need to create an account, which opens up ton's of options for you. You then get access to our huge database of promo tools as well and the ability to create five co-branded web sites which are really simple to create, you add your own graphics and colors to what is basically a template with all our models featured. I bought a "PHP/MySQL For Dummies" book and just started playing around. (I wanted to do it from the inside out - the long way, in other words.)
DO NOT try this approach, unless you have unlimited supplies of coffee and patience. These days, nearly any kind of routine or content you need for nearly any kind of website is out there, free for the downloading. The conversions have dwindled as the competition has increased, but it is easier to "flatten out" and offer a variety of different sites in different niches. Don't necessarily focus on One Big Project; diversify into as many different income streams as you can manage. As Toby mentioned, the landscape changes over time. |

You can now put whatever you want in this space :)

I started by making tgp galleries at night and on weekends while I worked a full time job. I then started my own sites, etc.
I quit my job when the porn was making more money then my day job! Wish things were as good as they were back then. Good luck. |

It is better to watch things then to do them

I followed a link from Link-o-rama to the ANS board before I had ever heard the word webmaster. I won a free domain name that same day and then built my first link list in 01 I think. (basically I did 4 versions of a LOR clone only much worse before creating on my own)
From there it's been an on again off again love affair with LL's and FS's in between. |

I bought one of those turnkey adult sites. A complete rip off to the tune of $1,200.00 bucks, but it did get me interested. It's addictive in some ways.

Is it really necessary for you to constantly hijack threads? The OP is looking for guidance as a noob, not a sales pitch.
