how much do you use Google lately?

I was surfing with my kids the other day.. and we always used Google, never any of the other se's .. well with the newest results the way they are.. we couldn't find what we were looking for.. we were looking for a mainstream webdesign site, and most of the search results were about how to design a website, not commercial design companies.. so we searched on yahoo instead.. I wonder if other people are starting to do the same thing?
I used to love Google, but lately ... NOT

oh btw.. been working my butt off on Midnight Digital, now tell me you can't afford to buy a nice set of content for $3.99...

I am still using google. Though I have been disappointed with its results for some time now. It really is not the same google as in the past.

I've used google for about 10 searches in the past couple of days, always incredibly accurate.

I tried yahoo last ngiht for a couple of searches, since i was at their page playing a game anyways. It gives you its directory results first, before the actual SE results. Means I have to skip a page to get to the truly relevent responses.

Means i dont care enough to bother. Even if what I want isnt on googles front page and is a page in, still better than yahoo.

It depends on what I'm searching for. I'd estimate that I use google 30% of the time, when the meta searches don't pull up what I'm hunting for.

I use Google all the time.

It works very well when I need to find technical documents. When searching for local things like art supplies or something it also works well but I find that I have to play around with the search string.

I use google for everything but have found it screwy of late. When looking for sports news on certain players the news search cant be beat.

Thanks Boogie, this is what I suspected.. pretty much all informational sites

The future of single business sites on Google doesn't look very promising to me... What I'm seeing in results are sites that link to lots of other sites that match the query, for example, link sites and webmaster resource sites

There are some single sites in results.. but not nearly the numbers that were there before

Gotta chime in with my .02 here too...

I used to be a Google-Lover... I'll admit it, I'm not ashamed. But lately I've gotten the "what have you done for me lately?" attitude and things aren't improving in our relationship.

I am seeing the same pattern Tia - good searches for informational data (I have an uncle who was recently diagnosed with a weird disease and I found TONS of info on Google), but not for commercial, industry-related or non-info type sites. Was looking for a study guide for my son for a book he's reading for schoolwork and all I found was a bunch of garbage, not much even related to the book or study guides in general. Also looked today for some listings on some industry sites and just found a bunch of dead ends...

It's getting frustrating... maybe I need to pull out Web Ferret and start using it again. The honeymoon is over!
