We've just learned Michael Jackson has died. He was 50.

Michael suffered a cardiac arrest earlier this afternoon at his Holmby Hills home and paramedics were unable to revive him. We're told when paramedics arrived Jackson had no pulse and they never got a pulse back.

A source tells us Jackson was dead when paramedics arrived.

LaToya ran in the hospital sobbing, after Jackson was pronounced dead.

Michael is survived by three children: Michael Joseph Jackson, Jr., Paris Michael Katherine Jackson and Prince "Blanket" Michael Jackson II.

Story developing...

Well, the little boys anyway.

Its amazing the lavish praise the media is pouring on him afters years of utterly demonizing him for changing color, getting a plastic face and having sleepovers with little boys.

Our media is a schizophrenic clusterfuck.

He changed the world of music and in that avenue of his life he is a legend.

His personally life was a tragedy of success.

He had issues...but was an incredible entertainer. Thriller is still awesome.

What a shocking week. Three people I grew up with are gone. Ed McMahon (he was like everyone's grandfather) Or for me, great grand father. Farrah Fawcet. And now Michael Jackson.

I can't say I'm super sad about the Michael, but, I actually do know how to moon walk. He changed dance at that time, and it was truly incredible. I was really young when he first moon walked, but, after seeing it, I was obsessed with being able to do it!

However, his personal life was a mess. He was a frail man, and it was sad to see him unravel so horribly in public.

It's kind of freaky hearing a bunch of freak pornslingers, people the straights would be just as happy to see dead, in prison, or otherwise fucked over by their sick vengeful god, bashing another freak.

I guess it's nature. The chicken that gets pecked by the alpha chickens looks for a weaker chicken to peck.

I didn't care for the guy myself, but in terms of people who have done harm on this planet, it's hard to put jackson on the list of badguys.

Morality and moral panics are pretty funny.

McDonalds just put out a press release:

In honor and tribute to the late Micheal Jackson, McDonalds will be introducting the new MJ Burger. 50 year old meat between 10 year old buns!

Sad news.

Personally he was a HUGE mess.

Professionally one of the top male performers of all time. Thriller is still the most selling album/CD of all time. In the 80's Michael Jackson was IT.

I'm less pornslinger and more nerd. To me, porn is PHP code and HTML. And I'm straight. I don't think anyone here is bashing Mr Jackson, but rather exposing their own senses of humor. Mine is pretty sick, sad and stupid, so you got to take it with a shaker of salt.

My post was more a rant about the assholes in the media for playing up his weirdness over the last decade, then swooning over his death for more ratings. They are milking it for everything its worth.

Not fair. You cannot possibly equate what webmasters do to what Michael Jackson [allegedly] did to many, many children. Not even close.

What saddens me the most is that I wasted so much time listening to his music in my youth, and didn't fully realize what shit it was until Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Stone Temple Pilots, etc came along. At the same time MJ was being forced upon us by corporate radio, Britain was jamming to plenty of excellent progressive/alternative rock bands -- and that's purely unjust.

I wasn't a big fan but I still felt bad when I heard the news. He was an icon for his music always will be.

He had so many fans and a large family who are suffering today. That is who I really feel bad for. My condolences to them.

Question

A powerhouse in the pop world. Also a pioneer in bringing dancing into music videos.

And it's going to get stranger!

One of the reasons I love the Sex Pistols is because they signalled the end of the disco era. The Clash and a lot of talented bands followed after them and they brought the "edge" back into rock n' roll.
When punk turned to new wave and new wave began to lose it's edge, grunge came along and reminded people about the rebel nature rock needs once again.
To me Michael Jackson was a holdover from the disco era, and I only listened to radio stations that refused to play his music. I hated his music, and was glad when it faded away.

Sorry the dude died, but I'm more sorry about the 18 year old Iranian girl who was shot in the heart at the demonstration in Teheran. She stood up for something she believed in and was killed for it. That is a heartbreaker to me.
When rich famous celebrities die it is big news, so big that for a while people don't realize anything else is going on in the world. The guy had the best life money could buy, and pumped himself full of pain killers just to be able to tolerate it.
That is sort of sad, now that I think of it, but sort of stupid too.

And hey, if it takes people's minds off of the very real problems in the world and gets them out shopping and buying records like lemmings, well I guess they'll forget about wars, global warming, starvation, over population and such. That's what celebrities are for.

RIP

Another great punk band was the Plasmatics. Wendy O. Williams was one of my idols growing up. She committed suicide leaving this note.
"I don't believe that people should take their own lives without deep and thoughtful reflection over a considerable period of time. I do believe strongly, however, that the right to do so is one of the most fundamental rights that anyone in a free society should have. For me much of the world makes no sense, but my feelings about what I am doing ring loud and clear to an inner ear and a place where there is no self, only calm."
