Rejection - Your thoughts

I got reject by Mr Yum with this message -

First is that banner at the top of your entry page...flashing 'Enter'. I was going to ignore it, but I'm sure you're aware...many reviewers will kick the site because of it.

What's causing me to send this message is the color of your recip links. That dark blue on the black bg is almost invisible

Other than that...the site looks good. If you want to fix those issues and re-submit, I'll get the site added at the next update

I am some what concerned the about the mail I got as

1) the banner does have enter on it though as part of sentance and is lke font size 9 or something, though ghoing forward I will not a put a banner up.

2) The link tables, I am beeing told they are blue and black, is the this the case for anyone else as I see them as black BG and white links.

Mr Yum, dropped you a mail a little confused by this esp point two.

Any one here could you please check and let me know if you see blue recips or white recips

cheers for all your help

They show up fine in IE but in FF they show up as blue text on black background which indeed makes them very hard to read. Must be a CSS issue. I've had them before with IE/FF.
Why can't they just make all browsers so they show everything the same

I see this all of the time with recips that use inline styles. It seems someone started including the "{}" brackets awhile ago and many folks have picked it up as the way to style their recips.

For your inline style tags, try removing all of the unneeded "{" and "}" from the coding.

Example, use this:
<div style="color:#FFFF00;background-color:#FF6600;font:bold 15px Gill Sans MT;border:3px solid #000000;padding:5px;text-align:center;width:180px;">

Instead of this:
<div style="{color:#FFFF00;background-color:#FF6600;font:bold 15px Gill Sans MT;border:3px solid #000000;padding:5px;text-align:center;width:180px;}">

Those "{}" brackets are only used when you have your css in the document head or in an external stylesheet.

What Simon said. Also, if you embed all your styles in the <head> rather then inline you can save yourself a ton of code.

Yep, I do all reviews in FF...as I think a number of reviewers do these days

The issue with the very small 'Enter' on that banner was just a heads up. Some reviewers will decline for it...no matter the size. But, as mentioned in the email...it was the blue on black that caused me to decline the site.

Firefox is a lot less forgiving of bad code (both html and css) than IE. Definitely worth the time to check sites in both browsers to be sure

Also, I agree with Lemmy in that using inline css creates a lot of excess code. I tend to use either external css or keep in the doc head...makes for much leaner pages

bit offtopic, just kudos to MrYum who (not like most LL) send rejection mails + gives a personal touch to message. Small things makes LL great

Yep, I had an extra "}" in one of my lines of CSS and Mr. Yum found it and let me know. Prevented a BIG headache
