I need one that is free? anyone have any idea where i can find a good one.

It's a bitch to get working, but IHMO it has some features which are better than the paid CMS systems.

modf: porting it to what? it already runs with mysql under php
if you do use it, there are a few indices that they left out that make things a little faster. I have two clients that use it that love most features it has, and hate other features. It is one of the few that doesn't create 40 bazillion copies of the content and you can actually run static gallery pages. Trust no software that generates the members area dynamically.

No shit, I didn't realize that the other project was still active.
I've been going back and forth on different copies of the content. Space wise, I like having shared content. Different copies allow me to watermark per site though. |

the way cd34cms works is that there is a 'content' directory, then templates are generated on a per-site basis. Watermarking content for each site wouldn't really be supported.
Conman does about the same thing. There are other CMSs that use a gallery.php file to surf the content. Change 1 file, change the entire look, no need to rebuild. You can see the obvious detriments on a site with a lot of content doing sql lookups for every pageview, but, there are benefits. There are a few schools of thought. Having had to manage a number of different approaches, and seeing the obvious pitfalls, I've come to certain opinions. Your mileage may vary.

Vbulletin isnt free but is is cheap and it can be used as a content managemnt system with the new version

If you don't feel like the hassle of getting aconman up and going, I use that AWiz software the other thread talked about for my paysites. works great for me.

We've made content manager for our site from freeware script. Now it satysfies all our needs:
-auto thumbnail generating -orgainising content in categories -voting system for members -appointing of updates -autoziping of pics and movies all on php css - fully custoizable design |
