I quit promoting them a couple of years ago when they owed me several thousand dollars and weren't paying.

They were into me a 3K. They packed up the day before me and a few friends were about to take the money from their asses (on way or another)...if you know what I mean.

I stopped promoting them about a year ago when I realized they owed me $5k & hadn't sent a check in 4 months

When they redesigned their site and I was denied access to certain areas that had been open to me I began to get suspicious. Then when they "accidentally" missed my first payout I put them on notice in my mind.

I figured that was coming, they owed me around 4-5k. Gave me the run around for about 5 months then just stopped answering e-mails and phone calls.

they bounced a check to me a couple years ago ( the check was only for about $100 so I took that as a bad omen ) and pulled my links.

They bounced a check for me too. Must be 3 years ago, I think. They paid it and bank charges too, so I promoted them after that.
I got my letter and thought WTF - got some time to put 2+2 together and understood what it was for. They owe me nothing so I'm clear with them. Stopped promoting them long time ago. No particular reason, just lot of new sponsors and new sites to promote and only 24 hours in every day.

I wouldn't be to fast throwing out those letters if they came from the company that handled the bankruptcy. They may have access to the original records from the company that went into liquidation and they could probably tell from your old affiliate ID's what was owed to you. That would be enough to allow you make a legitimate claim, especially as they have your addresses on file still.
