Free text graphics tools

I'm looking for a simple easy to use program like CoolText, I've used Cooltext for years, but for some reason it's not allowing me to change fonts tonight and it's time to add some new looks anyways.
I've used Xara in the past, and don't like the results much from the newest versions.
I just want something where I can make a quick logo for galleries and fs's for this biz and mainstream logos.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
