Allows for a technique commonly used by plugins to detect a network-wide activation.
Better compatibility with servers running certain versions of PHP (5.2.4, 5.4) or with uncommon setups (safe mode, open_basedir), which had caused warnings or in some cases prevented emails from being sent.

Wordpress has a lot of updates....

I skipped the last few updates so figured it was time to finally update.

Updated both my WP Multi site installs without running into any issues.

Do wish I could update from within the WP admin as I'm always worried that I'm going to screw up doing it via FTP.
