Good Friday Everyone

A lot of progress on the ongoing work on the house - had a couple of rater large pine trees removed yesterday, a lot of things are now painted & my contractor has no major plans, so we decided to tie him up for a couple weeks & get more new windows & some other little stuff.

I'll be scarce for most of the day as it's "Run Around With The Bitch Friday"

Looks like rain here again but you never really know. I'm just hoping that it is not hot for the next few days as I have to start dragging this pile of wood street side for Monday's bulk trash pickup.

Well I finally did it, ordered everything but the gas cans from Amazon.com for my emergency power for this year's storm season. I was going to order 4 five gallon gas cans but they wanted to charge me shipping on them which made them cost more then if I bought them locally. No tax, No shopping fees, and delivered right to my fount door, got to love buying crap from Amazon.

I have to buy 3 breakers to finish my project, but, if we lose power, we'll probably be the only ones on the block with hot water... I can feel my capitalistic blood starting to churn. Last summer I was thinking - if I had the whole house generator.... and had Air Conditioning.. I could charge $30/head for people to sleep in air conditioned comfort... hmmm.

At $15k, it would only take 10 days without power and 50 people to pay off the generator. We had 6 nights of loss during Frances and 3 nights of loss during Irene.

Oh well. My other half would have let them stay for free.

I guess I'll get two window airconditioners soon as well.

There is the right way to hook up a generator and then there is the way I'm hooking mine up.

I'm sticking this at the end of a dryer cord and plugging it into where the dryer normally plugs in.

Spent one day this week marking all my breakers. After I was done I thought it was kind of strange how many spares I have. Especially since they reused my old sub-panel and attached it to my new sub-panel. I have all the spares left off but so far everything in my house works.

When I loose my power I have to walk around the back and flip off the 200 amp main. Then plug in the generator into the dryer outlet in my garage. Flip off all the breakers in the sub-panels in my garage except for what the generator will run and then start the generator that I've wheeled out of my garage into my driveway.

This should be really fun to do in the middle of a hurricane. lol
