Hey There, Saturday! You're Looking Mighty Fine, I Reckon!
Morning
I spent about 2 hours last night looking up the potential harmful effects of Aspartame, since I drink a SHITLOAD of Diet Mt Dew on a daily basis. It was hard to find more than 2 or 3 legit vids that were not by crackpots like Alex Jones, but the ones I did find - like a 60 Minutes piece from 1996 - allowed for me to come to the conclusion that I really need to get this crap out of my life. So today, I had a diet Monster that didn't contain any & until I find a better option, I'm trying to enjoy some of The Bitch's Gatorade. I'm not a huge fan of it, but if I mix it 50/50 with the Monster I have on hand, it's not that bad. Work for a little while, then down to The Pool House to clean & watch the Sabres game at 3 |

Good morning all.
Fucking NHL with their noon games! So I'm going to do a bank run shortly so I'm back in time to watch the game. Other than that I'll probably work in the afternoon after I buy a new mouse for this laptop, I hate not having a mouse. Greenie, you should cut all that shit out and drink water! I know it isn't very tasty but all that sugar and calories isn't healthy for ya |

Ram - actually, the Gatorade is "low cal" with only 45 calories for a 20 oz (591 mL) bottle. The Monster - Monster Energy Zero Ultra has no calories & is honestly the best tasting no/low calorie energy drink I've ever had...and you know I've had a lot of them Of course, it does contain a lot of words that I can't pronounce, but none of the words are "aspartame"

Good morning world
The good news is that while you're no longer getting your daily dose of the flame retardant chemical BVO (brominated vegetable oil) in Mountain Dew, there's a chance you may still get some in your Gatorade if you like the orange or citrus flavors. Gatorade has recently promised to phase out their use of BVO over the next several months, but there's still plenty on store shelves and in the distribution chain. If you do like those flavors you could switch to the powder version and just add your own dihydrogen monoxide since the BVO is only needed in the pre-mixed versions. Or if you want to be sure you don't spontaneously combust one day, you can also get your daily dose of BVO in Fresca Original Citrus, Fanta Orange, Sun Drop, Squirt, Sunkist Pineapple and some flavors of Powerade. Or just chew on some polystyrene foam cushions or the plastics used in electronic devices, where it's used to slow the chemical reactions that cause a fire. Plenty of articles about negative side-effects of Monster energy drinks too. So, really, the best thing would be to follows Ramster's advice and just drink pure dihydrogen monoxide without mixing in anything, except maybe a twist of citrus limonium. Of course you should take this all with a grain of salt, since it's being posted by someone who views bacon as one of the major food groups and who willingly consumes more than a grain of salt daily. Wishing a good weekend to all. "Well, hey, these things just snap right off."

Diet drinks seem to cause insulin in your body to stop working correctly and also weight gain over the long term.
Cut all that crap out of my diet years ago and now soft drinks of any kind just taste nasty to me now. I do sometimes drink a sugar free Red Bull for a quick energy boast if I can't get coffee, like out kayaking. Red Bull tastes like ass and has a nasty crash though. Lots of ice tea these days with cane sugar. Out having breakfast with friends so typing on my phone. Was up really late last night learning Dreamweaver so probaly going to stay away from the office most of today. |

Good Morning
Doing a little work, before my mother-in-law shows up and then we all go to my grandson's first birthday. The good news is we get to drop her back off at the airport tomorrow but then I pick my mom up at the airport on Monday. Ohhhh the joy of it all Greenie, good luck in cutting back on those nasty drinks. Right now I've got myself back down to 2 pepsi a day. At one point I was down to 1 every other day and I felt much better but then I relapsed and was back up to 4-6 a day. At least I'm not a coke addict, I like pepsi Last edited by JustRobert; 2013-03-02 at 01:26 PM.. |

I drink lots of water, it's the only thing I drink every day other than milk with protein in the mornings (and coffee).... it helps offset the large amounts of beer I drink each week.

I think the biggest problem with sweetening stuff with anything besides natural type sugars is that you body expects a certain amount of calories from something sweet.
When you start tricking your body all the time your insulin levels start getting messed up and you start craving more and more calories. |

I really think that the gallon or so of diet Coke that my neighbor Jim drank everyday was a major contributing factor in him becoming obese and die from his pancreases becoming necrotic.
