A newbie looking for advice. My site is a little different.
My site is something a little different from the rest of what I've seen here, but I thought it still might be worthwhile to ask for some advice and feedback from people who know what theyre talking about.
I'm starting a blog style site called The Pornoisseur , offering information, free galleries, and reviews of the sites that I have come to respect and enjoy over the years. My site is aimed at the people who are sick of constantly ending up at 'cum soaked bitches' type galleries, and are frustrated by TGP sites, who are looking for an honest, simple, and personal guide to the more polite side of porn. If you want to get a better idea what I'm talking about, take a look at it: http://pornoisseur.blogspot.com My idea is to make money through affiliate programs, but I'm not trying to cover the page with links that make me money, I'm more interested at least at first, in creating a sense of trust in my users, and getting a committed base audience. To do that, I need to get some traffic. Where's a good place to start for getting traffic? Is there anything I'm not considering that will make this whole idea fail? I would absolutely love some advice. I'm just getting off the ground right now, and I'm looking for link trades, traffic, advice, ideas, etc. Any response would be greatly appreciated. |

You say on your blog that you're looking to put a "personal touch" back into porn, so why are you promoting big sites like Hegre Archives which are the opposite of personal? ISM is a good site, but if you're selling "personal", surfers might expect that they'll actually get to interact with the models they see. Nothing wrong with a softcore arty smut blog, but I think "personal" is hardly the right keyword.

Looks nice. Don't be afraid to splash links around either. You should use your linkcodes on the text in the posts. For example, the first time you mention "Gallery Carre" link that text to the site using your affiliate link code. It will also emphasize the importance of this new site to the reader. Search engines may also pick up the linkcode, index it in their results and give you some direct traffic to your sponsors through your link.
The surfers don't hate to click.

Thanks for the responses. Does anyone have any sites that would be interested in link trades? I only want to trade with sites that I think are worth my viewers attention- that is, things that fit into the same catagory as my site. Any other ideas on how to get traffic?

Another question: I have no ideas what the various laws, regulations etc. are for this stuff. I just want to make sure my site's not missing any little warning or thing that might make it illegal- Could someone tell me? And whats this 2557 thing?

Do you mean that as in "Of course thats not illegal at all- its just softcore" or "You are an idiot for not knowing what 2257 is?" Either way I'd appreciate a more helpful answer. It's fine if you want to tell me that I don't know what I'm talking about, cause I don't, but I'd appreciate a real answer. Thank you.

If you do a board search for 2257 you'll find plenty of info. Basically the whole thing is in limbo and no-one knows where it's going. Alberto seems to be rustling his feathers, though.

posh porn - nice.
Hit me up on ICQ for link trades if you want to Its 218094863 I would pay some attention to 2257 and find out what it is about. If your going to need to make changes to make your site compliant you best do it now as it will be much more work later. If your not based in the USA it is not such a big deal for you however, but definately worth knowing about. Do what lemmy says and you'll find plenty of info.
