Why don't these vids play in FireFox?
This guys keeps submitting video freesites, but when I click the vids (in FireFox) I just get a page full of gibberish. Anyone know what's up?
http://www.mergina.com/wild-woman-in-sex/dvd-movies/ I've been declining his sites for not being FireFox compatible.

Evidently IE sees text/plain, but realizes that the extension of .wmv needs to be processed. He needs to adjust his mime types on his server. Probably missing the following in his apache config/mime.types declaration video/x-ms-asf asf asx video/x-ms-wm wm video/x-ms-wmv wmv video/x-ms-wmx wmx video/x-ms-wvx wvx

WMV files do that in all Mac browsers except Safari.
We use IE to do reviews in and drives us fucking crazy if we don't notice that it is a wmv file and just click on it instead of right mousing clicking and saving it to the desktop first. I hate wmv files. |

Cleo, so would you list this site since the WMVs can be played when saved first? I just think it's bound to piss off surfers with FireFox or a non-WMV-compatible browsers, which are quite a few. And I'm sure many don't know they have to save them first.

Since I do reviews in IE and I've yet to see IE play a wmv when it is accessed directly I would have to decline 100% of all wmv files which I don't do.
I would be curious to see if Mac IE played these files if the server was setup as cd34 suggested. The only thing that I use IE for is doing reviews. Mac IE is a slow POS that is very unforgiving of coding errors which is the main reason that we use it to do reviews. Also Safari which is what I use for just about everything else, like what I'm doing right now, ignores mouseover code so I would have no idea if they were using blind mouseover code. Safari does work properly with wmv files except if the paysite uses Strongbox and in that case there just is no way of viewing them in any browser. Mozilla on the Mac also has the same issues as Mac IE with wmv files and also like Safari ignores mouseovers. I hate wmv files. |

geesh, I try and find one server that I have that isn't running Tux that also has .wmv files.... haha..
http://g.wasteland.com/dsa/?cd34 this runs tux, but sets the mime type. I know the page encoding isn't complete, and they are reencoding the realmedia lowband, but, does that work? http://colo50.mia.colo-cation.com/dsa/ (this should be the same, but without Tux) $ telnet g.wasteland.com 80 Trying 69.25.180.209... Tested using Mac IE.
I had to look through the source code to find a direct link to the wmv files for this test since embedded wmv files do usually play just fine in all my browsers. Both of these URLs do launch WMP instead of trying to display text. http://colo50.mia.colo-cation.com/ds...aster_256k.wmv http://g.wasteland.com/dsa/wasteland_master_256k.wmv But the second one gives an error in WMP "The request is not valid in the current state." It is interesting that these URLs are the only time I've ever even seen Mac IE work correctly and launch WMP. |

hit this one again
http://g.wasteland.com/dsa/wasteland_master_256k.wmv http://g.wasteland.com/dsa/wasteland..._256k.wmv?cd34 If the 1st one still doesn't work, but the second does, I know what it is.

I don't think it's a connectivity issue, since I am able to see the root directory http://colo50.mia.colo-cation.com/dsa/
