NFL says commissioner Tagliabue to retire in July.

No story up as yet, but I thought he would after they agreed to the new CBA.

I think he did a great job and will be missed.

bluemoney 2006-03-20 12:56 PM

I agree, Tagliabue is a stand up guy and always seems to take the best intrest of the game to heart.

Would anyone believe me if I said I picked UCLA, UF, GMU and LSU in the Final Four?

:D |potleaf|

Torn Rose 2006-03-27 09:34 PM

Have not seen this in writing, but ABC News said that ESPN had over 3 million people enter their "Final Four" contest where you fill out the brackets and win things.

Out of 3 million, there are only 4 picked LSU, Florida, GMU and UCLA.

What the fuck was these people smoking that would make anyone pick a 11th seed who barley made it into the tourney? And to be honest I am shocked that there were 4 people lucky enough to pick this final 4, I really thought it would be 1 at the most.

My picks are either George Mason or UCLA, I just hate the SEC.

Greenguy 2006-03-27 10:13 PM

George Mason?

bluemoney 2006-04-04 08:15 AM

As much as I hate to say it . . . Congrats to the Gators and head coach Eddie Munster :D

Torn Rose 2006-04-04 09:18 AM

Was that an ass whipping, or was that an ass whipping?

I said to a friend that if both teams played like that played Saturday night UCLA would win by 10; their D was just too tough...

Geeze what was I smoking...

3 blowouts? The 1st weekend was better than those one-sided fuckfests.

Well said GG, very anti-climactic finish.

Flexible NFL could create better Sunday match-ups

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2397614

• Begins Sunday, Nov. 12 in Week 10.
• In effect Weeks 10-15 and Week 17. Plan not in effect Week 16 because of holiday weekend.
• Only Sunday afternoon games are subject to being moved to Sunday night.
• During flex weeks, majority of Sunday games will be listed at 1 p.m. ET, except for games played in Pacific or Mountain Time Zones, which will be listed at 4:05 or 4:15 p.m. ET.
• Thursday, Saturday and Monday night games not affected.
• NFL will give 12 days notice if a game is being moved to the 8:15 p.m. ET time slot and also may announce games moving to 4:15 p.m. ET.
• CBS and Fox each can protect a total of five games in seven weeks of flexible scheduling, but not more than one game per week.

NBA Player Shot

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/200....ap/index.html

DENVER (AP) -- Julius Hodge of the Denver Nuggets was shot and wounded early Saturday, Adams County sheriff's deputies said.

Hodge was struck several times in his lower body and has been taken to a hospital but his condition wasn't immediately available.

|headbang| Congrats to Phil (Lefty) Mickelson on his second Masters win in two years.

This is a guy a few short years ago who was given up by some of the so called "experts" as having any shot at a major win much less the Masters.

Another fine example of how success always finds those who keep going long after others believe the battle is over.

gUrLaLiEn 2006-04-10 05:52 AM

Hey... nice thread here! :D I myself is an NBA fan... I love phoenix and mo idol is amare stoudemire... :D

AZ Cards close to finishing $450 million showplace

http://www.nfl.com/teams/story/ARI/9383819

The retractable roof is translucent, allowing in light even when it is closed, which it will be when temperatures hit triple-digits early in the coming season.

The most intriguing feature, though, is the field itself. Made of natural grass, it will sit outside under the desert sun 340 days a year, Bidwill said. For games, it will slide into the stadium like a kitchen cutting board.

"It's a tray. I call it a cake pan about three feet deep," Bidwill said, "a single unit that rolls into place in 45 minutes. It weighs about 17 million pounds and rolls on about 500 wheels on 13 rails."

When the field is rolled outside, it leaves 152,000 square feet of space for conventions, trade shows or other events.

_________

I found this very interesting and look forward to seeing this on tv soon, I also think the Cards are going to be legit contenders very soon. (as soon as they bench/drop Warner and his wife)

Greenguy 2006-04-19 10:50 PM

2006 NBA Playoffs

I say Pistons over Spurs in 5.

Pacers will get past the Cavs, but will get spanked by the Pistons and I look forward to the off season when the Pacers office gut this lifeless fucking shell of a team and get players who want to play in the NBA there.

As one reporter has said, the only 3 pacers guaranteed to be back next year are Larry Bird, Donni Walsh and Rick Carlisle

Jermain Oneal is too soft to play in the NBA, the pussy gets hurt putting his shoes on, Tinsley has had more then enough time and has not improved, Jackson has a shitty attitude, Peja wants more then the $8 million per year he is already getting and everyone else is just good enough to be a bench player.

Fuck I miss Reggie, and Marc Jackson, and Rik Smits and the Davis’s and even Jalen Rose….
|cry|

Last I heard (after the game tonight) the Cavs are playing #5 seed Washington, Saturday at 3. The Pacers being #6 will play New Jersey in the first round.

Yep you are right, my bad, I was going off old news.|huh

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/matchups

Now I am not so sure Pacers will get past the first round, the Nets are pretty hot right now.

damn...|banghead|

pornrex 2006-04-20 09:42 AM

I hate the Nets and I hope the Pacers give it their all and destroy them.

Trev 2006-04-20 06:31 PM

And the Cavs would have to beat, Washington, Detroit and then either Miami or Jersey to get out of the east. So....... ummm.... ahhh... well.... BronBron will at least get his feet wet in the playoffs.
