OK!!! SOME TIPS HERE!!!

Hey people...

I have read lately the same story over and over again...
I lost or my domain was stolen for X fucking reason....

OK!!! HERE ARE SOME TIPS FOR YOU!!!

1 - USE A DOMAIN REGISTRY THAT ALLOWS YOU TO LOCK YOUR DOMAINS...
2 - USE A UNIQUE PASSWORD FOR EVERY SPONSOR YOU SIGN UP WITH...
Shit, I already can hear some say it's too much work...
Fuck That Mentallity! You are protecting your ass here...
Create a file with all your user names and passwords.
use a ms database tool or other shit to manage and organise your biz... BE ORGANIZE.
3 - DO NOT FUCKING SHARE PASSWORDS AROUND... YEP!! You READ IT RIGHT!
I have found some ideas of secure passes yet people put online the passes they use...
4 - CREATE HARD TO CRACK PASSES LIKE vgH2X4c6FZe9R OR c3ZFg1EsvX8dK....
give those fuckers some thing to work on... do not use simple crap like sex666
5 - IF A SPONSOR ASK FOR YOUR URLS.... KEEP AN EYE ON THEM...
Take notes for future refferences... If something goes wrong easy to catch later on...

I can keep on and on but the main point here is to be carefull as possible.

BTW, TRUST YOUR INTUITION!!! IF SOMETHING SMELLS FISHY DON'T THINK IS RAW PUSSY!!!

good luck to all.

In this vein: What's a good alternative registrar? And what's a good way to manage passwords?

Tommy 2004-08-23 03:23 PM

I like directnic

the best way to manage passwords is with software
mccaffe and norton have password mangement software and there is tons of it online

also you should come up with some sort of system to generate passwords
for example:
like giving eash vowel a number
a=156
e=2057

and then using some sort of prefix followed by the first or last vowel of the sponsors name

and the prefixes should be different for each group
sponsors
domain regestars
ftp
personal
email

this way if one password was compromised they would not get access to anything else

amareck 2004-08-24 07:50 AM

I agree with Tommy. Manage your stuff with software, but suggesting McAffee & Nortons...hrrrmm....I've heard hackers learn this to break them in kindergarten :P its kinda like putting norton antivirus on your computer to stop viruses...not the best solution getting around....

by the way: we all know to turn off password logging and stuff right? very handy for unimportant stuff, but those data files are allegedly as tight as Gauge after work...

using an algorithm based on sponsor names (or whatever) is a good one...but a pain in the ass if you forget the key lol.

Personally, I use an excel spreadsheet :P its got a very generic name that no one would ever consider was important, is password protected (which means jack all really) and is stuck in the ass end of one of my directories about 238947 levels deep. The added bonus is that using some cool little bits, I can show only sponsor passes, or website log ins, domains etc.

As for GoDaddy's alleged australian connection...if their parent company or other holding corp IS registered in australia, please let me know, I may be able to assist.

Useless 2004-08-24 12:03 PM

I have a very high tech password solution: I keep a pad and pen on the desk. Ok sometimes I use a pencil.

Plus, I always use my mother's name for all of my passwords: adele.

Oh shit!|sad|

Time to change them again.

blueking 2004-08-24 12:54 PM

I hope you guys will get your domains back, I did not even know that people could just stell your domain, I would kill the motherfucking if it was me.

Opti 2004-08-25 03:22 AM

This utility makes generating and managing lots of unique passwords quite easy.

Why wouldn't Network Solutions pull the plug on GoDaddy till they figure out if its a inside job or if they have a security breach? Sounds like a good lawsuit against Network Sol. Because they are responsable in picking reliable resellers. IMHO

What the fuck!
Two days ago I got email from admin@fetishcrawler.com asking for trade exchanges with fetishcrawler.com & pornfresh.com.
I remember fetishcrawler.com as great LL... so I added those links gladly. Today I saw this post and was shocked! Of course used search buttond and found out fetishcrawler.com was also stolen while ago.
Well.. I've removed all links right away but got my lesson: always check twice who you are dealing with... these days nothing is certain

grzepa 2005-04-03 06:23 AM

Stories like that freaks me out...hope you'll get your domain back and that fucking thief will get caught.

griff 2005-04-03 08:21 AM

hasn't anyone noticed this thread was started in 08/2004.
Is this sitil a problem with godaddy, or has it been resolved in the meantime?

AcidMaX 2005-04-03 09:52 AM

He (fetishcrawler.com) might have gotten the domain back, many of us did. I got gaypervs.com back some time ago after I found a valid email address and e-mailed the guy to get the domain back. Within a day he gave me the login information to his godaddy account and I had the domain back.

Useless 2005-04-03 10:00 AM

Yes, this is an old as thread, but I'd like to know the current status of fetishcrawler.com and pornfresh. From this post I'm betting that pornfresh.com is permanently stolen. I can make my script reject sites that have links to poisonous domains. I don't want to list anyone who's submitting to cocksuckers.

I don't think so, you can look at this page

TheBigDork 2005-04-03 01:09 PM

Damn, this thread is scary... I've got domains on goaddy and they are locked but it doesn't sound like that would stop a determined thief scumbag very long.... is this still a problem with godaddy or has it been worked out?

ronnie 2005-04-03 01:22 PM

This is the first I am hearing of this. Your domain gets hijacked, you should let your trades know, I never got anything. Last time this happened, I got the links down quickly. Funny I just got an e-mail from "porn fresh" about changing their site around and need to change cat links. Gee, wonder why.

Not the first time I've seen this happen with godaddy, beware if you have domains with them.

tjchuck 2005-04-03 03:27 PM

I am still new to this biz, but fuck I am blown away that this actually happens.

The shit people do when they are hiding behind there computer screen, it fucking pisses me off.

SandWalker 2005-04-03 11:17 PM

I just bought some domains that are on GoDaddy, which I hate. Now they say I have to wait 60 days to transfer to a real registrar.

Has anyone heard of this site or something like it? I was considering trying them out...

Thats bullshit, they are saying 60 days because they want to piss you off or they are trying to keep the domain longer, maybe to renew? Never heard of a good registrar doing that. From what I've heard of them, guess it's not surprizing...:(

Never heard of the one your asking about.

ronnie

Thomas 2005-04-04 03:55 AM

Recommend me a new registrar to transfer all my domains please, I have all my domains on godaddy.com :(

All I want is a good cpanel cause I know shit about dns and stuff like that (but Im good att filling out forms....) and a fair domainprice.

/Thomas

Wenchy 2005-04-04 06:58 AM

Wow. I originally hit "post reply" to answer Thomas' question... then it suddenly hit me that announcing who my registrar is in a public forum probably isn't in compliance with the CYA recommendations above and might not be in my best interest.

Helluva note when you become too paranoid to even do business in the manner to which you have become accustomed. I hope the fuckwits who pull this kind of shit can sleep at night, bcuz those of us who consider ourselves the "good guys" are losing plenty wondering what they're up to this time and how long it will be before it's us starting threads like this one. Cripes |banghead|

Edited to add: Thomas, if you are still interested, feel free to send me a PM and I'll be happy to share my info with you |cool|
