I remember those days but the difference back then was that clicks were either going to a trade or a paysite and for every trade popped there was also an exit popped - either an exit to a paysite of some CPM program. The pissed off surfers were constantly bombarded with some form of ad. With the TGP-CJs of today however there is an emphasis on no ads at all. It's quite a brilliant strategy (NOT!) - the less ads we show them the more they will click on thumbs which means more hits sent out to crappy FHGs and trades. In effect you get a pissed off surfer bouncing around from one site to the next without any sales pitch or ad in sight. The TGPs grow and rise up the traffic ranks but the income they make is basically pennies. It's a constant sacrificing of income to increase traffic levels when it clearly should be the other way around.

And pood you are indeed living in a fantasy world if you think the average 100K thumb TGP brings in 2K/month.

I cannot understand the desire for people to run these blind linking CJ sites. All you are getting is a more and more frustrated surfer, looking for a gallery, and getting NOTHING.

Great discussion so far. I can certainly agree with the concept behind traffic trading..."If I can't sell something to this surfer let someone else try and send me another surfer back." If I do actually start up a TGP I'll give the surfer galleries on the first 2 or 3 clicks then start the skim percentage from there...but it seems to me that the right model would be to keep the surfer long enough to make a reasonable attempt at selling him before sending him away.

It just seems that the traffic has become an end in itself for many, whereas the truly successful people I've gotten to know take the true measure their traffic and their sites by how much money they make per unique visitor...be it .05 cents or 2 cents.

Im actually going to run some test with my tgp when I get upto 1000 uniques/day, im going to start trading with these CJ sites to see if I get any more productive traffic. I think a combination of sponsor gp, mp site and trading traffic with others might be a good combo.

I think there's a line between totally annoying the surfer & giving away too much for free.

Surfers already have pop ups disabled & ad blocking so banners don't show up. TGPs are updated every day with hundreds of new galleries & to get listed, they need to have at least 15 high quality, big photos that haven't been seen all over the place. MGPs now want a minimum of 4 clips in sequence that are at least 1 MB in size & at least 10 seconds long.

If the surfer is already getting that much for free, what's next? Free blowjobs for bookmarkers???

Im Webmaster and Surfer for XX Years,and you are Right.I just changed my own TGP to a non CJ Site.All Thumbs are going to a gallery,Trades are only getting Traffic from the Top 50 and some other Linksites on that Domain.and shit i make 2 times more than before thats fact !.

as i sayed before iam a surfer too and hate those shit like auto dialer install,auto bookmark etc....i have a few trades doing that kind of shit and they will be blacklisted soon.
