THIS is the kind of thing we need in the US - an organization that will not just beg for money and make vague promises, but actually show ACTION, on a regular basis. Has there been a follow-up press release or article to that piece of shit the AP put out a day or so ago? That's a sincere question, and I would be very happy if the answer was "yes". Where is our lobby??? |

This is the mind-set of extremists of all types. Just for fun (NOT) I spent a little time a year or so ago browsing a hardcore extremist "feminist" group's forum. At the time, these "feminists" were all up in arms about the pubic hair shaving trend. I learned that by shaving my naughty-bits, I was setting womankind back several centuries. Never mind the whole personal, individual choice thing - my actions somehow stood for something...well, really hairy, I guess. Ach, I'd best not go on. Anyway, IMO these chickies were no more "feminists" than most of the far-right religious folk are "Christians." An extremist is an extremist; they manage to bring a bad reputation down on those they claim to represent, while totally mangling the actual belief system. They are both pathetic and dangerous, and I hold a very special (and dark) place in my heart for them all. |
Sorry my number 0f over 4,000 was wrong. It is +/- 500 clergy and the info can be found here http://www.eros.com.au/hypocrites2.php

Ok.. let's think back to the pre- election. The FarRighteous Indignators offered their support to the GWB team to assist in him winning the election. Focus on the FamDamily's big honcho D obson called on the Christian's to support Bush. The right wingers were the one's who sent out the lovely propeganda through the US mail that said 'Democrats will ban the bible if Bush Loses'. Another lie, but hey, who's counting...
Now.. Bush gets in office and it's time to make payback to the good folks who got him to office. They set up this revision, and rally team Christian to support this, highly unconstitutional attrocity called 2257. From a distance, the team says.. "FINALLY... Bush is doing something to rid the world of the filthy pornographers- I support this!! Isn't he a good, God Fearing man!!!" Roll to the courts reviewing this revision. If they toss it out on it's backside-as gov 101 tells us, it should happen. Then the righter's now can say that they have PUT A LAW OUT THERE TO PROTECT THE CHILDREN and the LIBERAL JUDGES are protecting the pornographers. Remember, it was the LIBERAL JUDGES who made gay marriage an issue. We need to get rid of the Liberal judges!! That would be a coup especially when he isn't really doing much for his base on the abortion issue. Mind you, he's on his way, and some are already saying,to being a Lame Duck president, and his base is probably getting pissy that their issues aren't being addressed. If you really want to read some mindblowing crap, search for the book "Dare to Disc ipline" Because good Christians should beat, humiliate and abuse their children to teach them values and morality. BTW.. all you Welmart shoppers, support this with your dollars. Wel-mart sells baby gift sets that include a sweet little jammies and the Dare to Discipline book all wrapped up with a bow. These entities are intertwined, in bed together.. what have you... Follow the money. There's a bigger picture here than just our little record keeping nigh tmare. |
Methinks it's time to bid this SHITHOLE of a country GOODBYE |waves|

Is that the book written by Lisa Welchel(Blair on Facts of Life)? I know she has one out on how she spanks her kids and puts tobasco sauce on their tongues. Eeesh. The funny thing is, over on another adult web board, there are a lot of hardcore republicans who love the W. They voted for him twice. Love everything he does, and everyone he appoints. Amazing. |
THe only part of this that really caught my eye - its about damn time someone started saying we ought to be spanking kids - ever since that asshole in the early 60s came out with his parenting book, that said you should always listen to your children and dont set any rules where you might end up having to spank them, this whole society has emerged where parents dont take any responsibility for their childrens acts - including surfing the net. As far as the tabasco - I sure would have preferred that over the ivory soap we all used to get our mouthes washed out with in the 1950s
Of course I just love it when I see all these parents that complain about having to work two jobs - so that they can afford to buy their kids their own cars, their own TV sets, DVD players etc - if I ever asked for a car or something like these personal luxury items every kid is walking around with these days - we would be turned out to go get a job and earn it - too bad not a one of these kids now will ever learn how to earn a real living - just keep depending on everyone else to give them everything. |
I suppose I should add that I am not a rep - far from it - I was an activist against the Vietnam war - my parents were civil rights activists back when my dad had to carry a gun to protect my mother for her job as a reporter for a newspaper in the South as she was very vocal against segregation and the shitty treatment of any human being. I remember many meetings of the SDS back in the 60s where things were discussed that would make gang violence look mild today - and those were back in the days when people were actually going to attempt to overthrow the US from within - I resorted to non-violent protest but had some friends who did not.

I can correct my kids' behavior by counting to three. I don't have to spank them. Know why? Because I have done it on multiple occasions and they damned well know that I will do it again. They've never been grounded and they've never had a 'time-out'. They have always had the option of either controlling their behavior or feeling the smack on their butts. Or even worse - losing toys. I haven't had to spank them in a long time and everyone thinks my kids are complete angels. Proper corporal punishment is all a matter of doing it for the right reasons and never threatening to do it but failing to follow through. Same as any promise made during behavior correction. If you threaten to drag them out of the mall when they're acting up, you damned well better do it or they will walk all over the parent forever. |
Word on the spanking. When I watch nanny 911 I just hit the roof. 3, 4, 5 year old kids controling their parents. My sister raises her son with a soft iron hand. He is the best little 7 year old I know because of it. You can take him anyplace, just tell him he is to be good or you will tell his mom and all is cool. No screaming in movies or acting up at dinner. Not to change this into a child raiseing topic but I have always believed that my moms belt, my welts, and my punishments tought me good lessons. In short for every action there is a reaction. If that action is bad then the reaction can be worse. Case in point, you are 15 you steal a car, you MAY go to kiddy jail, you may not. You hit 18, you steal a car. Odd are with in the next year you will have new friends who will teach you the meaning of Biotch. Just that thought showed me to get in line, thank to my mom and her wonderful, black leather belt that she used with Kung Fu skill.

[quote=NotThatKevin]I have seen so many of my kids friends out of control and do as they please. When the parents try to discipline them they tell the parents to fuck off. They even tell the teachers to fuck off. And then everyone wonders why the youth is so fucked up. /QUOTE]
Oh ya, here is another good one these snot nosed kids use all the time, "Hit me and you'll go to jail for child abuse". And they wonder why there are so many problem teenagers today. I have met many police officers that agree that these out of control kids now a days need some old fashion decipline. |
I didn't say I was for or against spanking. In the Do bson book.. it suggests that you whip your children with objects such as belts, or bread boards. You should also hang the item in plain view of the children with the words like "for lies only" as a reminder.
I guess we can't have faith in our little ones to give them bygones when they make mistakes. We have to assume they are bad and terrorize them with reminders of the impending beatings. BTW.. you should be starting this discipline very early in your toddlers life... :( I think consecquences are important in raising kids. Parenting books are all very soft and cuddly now and kids are little shits. You can raise good people who respect boundries without injuring them, their minds, their bodies or their spirits. If you search for Dob son (it's one word) and his books, you'll see what people have to say about this. I know this isn't a parenting forum, I really wanted to point out how messed up this all is. |
Sorry - didnt mean to say that you were for or against anything :)
And I do remember the belt, the switch and the paddle hanging on the kitchen wall - as well as the long paddle in every classroom in every school I ever attended till I was in HS, and I can tell you that I learned "real quick" what to do and what not to do - with no questions asked - and no gentle explanations of "why". Sorry - but since everyone started this whole feel good movement all I can see if that it spurned gangs in neighborhoods that used to have ball tournaments in the inner city (I did get to live in Wash DC for part of my upbringing so I remember it well) - spurned the hand out generation (somehow its tied to the MTV generation that has now matured and had their own frigging brats that think everything is theirs automatically) and most importantly - its created a health-care system that sees the chaos and takes advantage of it, created mindless apathetic people that wont even go out and vote for their government, and clueless idiots that get "given" degrees in college now that (and I swear this is the truth) act surprised when you tell them that Alaska really isnt an island (this was from a girl with a masters degree) because they see the maps where Alaska is always a cutout in the map :) Great education kids get now-a-days |
