I am sorry but the last 4 days or so its been really slow
almost unreachable

before when the board was loading I went downstairs perked a pot of coffee, made a cup, came back upstairs and the page still wasnt finished loading

just a blank beigeish/green page
and privacy warnings about cookies from cleos-porn-links

The banner rotator that the board uses and that I also use uses cookies.

Cleo, it is not standard but not far from it anymore to get a warning if you are getting an "off" cookie when surfing. I have mine set up to block certain cookies, such as sextracker. It doesn't care for cookies from the same domain, but it does trigger when it comes from another domain if you set it that way.

Not sure why a banner rotator needs a cookie, but there ya go. ;-)

It's very slow for me... It's been especially bad since the new look.

However, I can't tell what's taking so long to load, because what happens on my end is this:

I open a thread and see a blank white page for quite some time. When it finally does load, everything shows at once. Basically, it's not showing me any of the page until everything is loaded. At least I think that's what's happening.

Still brutally slow for me. It took OVER AN HOUR to get this page to load. It hangs, and my best chance to get it to load is to refresh. I probably refreshed this page 8-10 times before I could read it.

Yesterday I left a page alone without refreshing just to see what would happen... 3 hours later it was still just a blank light green page, still trying to load.

It's about half way back to normal speed for me as I type this |goodnight

It take about 30 sec for mine to load but it used to be a lot quicker. It seems faster than it did 2 days ago or maybe I have had too many VB's |jester|

Changing servers hasn't changed anything on my end. Still could load faster |sad|

When it finally loads, it loads fast and just fine. something is causing it to hang, on the blank light green page, before anything else loads.

I'm not on a fast connection, but I'm visiting dozens to hundreds of domains a day, and none but this are this slow for me.

Something you have to remember...and Cleo has been guilty of this a few times but...when you are calling banners from another server, that server may be very slow or even down as well.

I wish there was a way to put everyones banner on our server and load it from here but I just looked and we do not have that option.

Yeah I had server problems for a couple of days a month or so ago so naturally my sig file, which comes from my link list server, didn't load and hung the board.

Of course we have lots of webmasters and most are serving a banner from their servers, but I've noticed that if it is someone's sig the board will hang at the post causing problems and not the whole board.

This board, like just about all web pages, loads a lot faster in Mozilla then in IE.

This board does and has always loaded very very slow for me. I don't know why but it makes it where I only visit every other day or so and click a thread link if it sounds like something I can't live without reading.

And I'm on a cable modem also

Unfortunately, it loads extremely slow.

It seems there were a few factors to slow loading. One is fixed and one is being fixed.

The way phpads was loading banners was not the best way. And, the way all images on all pages were loading was not setup the best way.

I spent over 12 hours yesteday fixing the images on all pages recently done.

Believe this...our main goal, as well as national net's is to get this site loading faster than any out there. We have found the phpads problem and we are working on it now.

Whatever you're doing keep it up. The board is creping up faster and faster for me :)

On some of the pages I used the full url to the image instead of the relative url to the image.

Never heard of that making a difference in load time, either way the server still needs to look up the url of the images. On most of the pages except the root ones I did use the full url so that they would be potable when doing future updates., but mostly I did it this way because I didn't have access to the server and wanted to be sure that there where no broken images. This is new to me, but in this business you are always learning something new.

12 hours??? Damn Jim don't you use search and replace? That would have taken less then 5 minutes per directory using search and replace.

What did you change on PhpAdsNew? I use it as well and anything that makes it serve banners faster is nice to know.
