Ok, isn't 2257 a law as it is?

To change a law don't you need a new bill and doesn't it have to go thru the whole process of becoming a law again?

They are trying to make a new law, so they have to start over, they can't just keep changing an established law to suite their whims.

I didn't like that first article. It said 2257 is aimed at stopping child porn. That is so far from the f'ing truth. The only person cracking down on child porn is Oprah. |thumb

Leave us alone already, I have a nice cottage industry going here between me myself and my pussy. It has nothing to do with minors. And if they start taxing porn on the net they better tax everything else. If they do, I'm gonna give pics of my pussy away for free and put a link to 1-800-FLOWERS under them. |angry|

"The California law goes from soup to nuts," one industry executive said. "There's not one shadow of any evidence that the movie industry doesn't protect children."

AND THERE IS NOT ONE SHRED OF EVIDENCE THAT THE PORN INDUSTRY DOESN'T PROTECT THEM EITHER-AHOLES!!!

Thanks and have a nice day |blowkiss|

That quote about "..soup to nuts.." was in a Hollywood Reporter article also.

That article mentioned a rather nasty aspect for the Hollywood folks.
"The 2257 provision also has ramifications beyond the artistic as a federal tax provision designed to stem runaway production is unavailable to anyone required to register a 2257. Many state incentives designed to entice filmmakers to shoot on location also contain similar language. "

So maybe they will have to change the tax laws to allow 2257, which means porn producers could become eligible for tax credits.

Well at least this is bringing more attention to the whole case and getting more onside against the insane amount of regulations.

Thanks for that article. I found this statement pretty scary "legitimate entertainment industry". At least he's willing to alter his bill showing that he's an idiot.

Candy - unfortunately there are what are called implementing laws in this country - they can be changed by the attorney general in this case to implement a bill that was passed as law years ago as he sees fit. The congress usually just passes a law that is very general and then the departments (DOJ, NRC etc) do all of the implementation/interpretation code in the Federal Register to accomplish enforcing that law.
