Hello!
I guess it was tactless to name the list in a such way, maybe we should name it like “ineffective”
About the list itself
The list is gathered based on many posters’ opinion, and I think
(I don’t thrust my opinion on yours) that they make sense to take them into consideration
Well for those, who had read the description above attentively…
(for those, who don’t understand - the text above the list itself) I (as well as the author of the list) do know the reasons of adding websites to the list and I don’t claim to be fully right and I’m ready to perform any changes of the list
(including removing the resource from it). My contacts are written there...
The presence of my recips among them - meaningless. I want to add, also, that I decline websites when there are TOO many recips from the list (1-3 is all right, I even don’t pay attention)
If you have any useful suggestions - I’m waiting for them in icq or e-mail
(let’s make it perfect?:).

The list is going to get out of date regardless. It's easier if submitters use discretion and only submit to LLs that timestamp the date of their last update or have a "what's new" page. That's what I do. If there is no date and I'm not familiar with the LL then it's dead to me.

It's also possible to check the timestapm for listed freesites to see the length of the review line.

Its also a good idea to check their alexa traffic rank. If its quite high then it might be worth giving them a try.

I wasn't posting it to say hey look at this great resource, I posted it was because I was getting rejected by a LL for having recips to LLs that were listed as dead on that site which I knew were active.

I said in my very first post that there were LLs on the list which were active.

Posting it here meant I could just send the link to this thread to the guy who was rejecting me so he can see clearly that he was wrongly rejecting my sites as I had a hunch that you guys would all come in and say its an innacurate list.

It also meant that anyone else submitting to the LL or thinking of submitting to that LL could deduce that its probably not worth submitting if they keep using that list.

I was gonna make a post about the statement about Alexa - but nahhh - Ill just let people believe what they want :)

Wazza 2005-11-24 09:44 PM

Alexa... my page views and visits and uniques have been basically the same for 12 months... yet Alexa had me going up and up for months... now it's got me going down and down... -50K rankings for the past 3 months...

I'm the one with the numbers...

Unless a site is solidly in the top 20 or 30 thousand, Alexa numbers should be ignored outright...

I could get the toolbar and put myself in Alexa's top 100K if submitters would prefer... but I do send traffic - not as much as many others - but you're listed forever and over time it adds up to a worthwhile amount...

I see my site harrymuff.com on there, it is not dead there is just a backlog that will be cleared shortly.
Looking at some of the sites on that list, I cant help but think this list is made by someone that builds shit

I corrected the list, moved functioning (active) resources, please, check it up!

vanVulture 2005-11-25 01:48 AM

Vulcan your list ROCKs ... NOT !!! |bananna|

Please check it up and fuck off

swedguy 2005-11-25 02:15 AM

You did right in adding cybererotica.com. They send me less traffic than Tommy's Bookmarks.

vanVulture 2005-11-25 02:23 AM

You want to see little traffic swed?

I've got you covered!! :D

Same here, my traffic went up with 30% in the last 4 months yet my alexa ranking went down with 200,000... anyway, believe what you want :)

Linkster 2005-11-25 07:57 AM

Fonz - the reason I even posted at all is because just like a few other "tools" out there - its so easy to put your site wherever you want in Alexa - its funny - I could start a site tomorrow and within 2 weeks time have it to below 20,000 - and all with no real traffic to the site :)

Damn - you took my linklists off of there - and Im totally ineffective because I wont list cheaters and scammers - and more importantly - autosubmitters that use that list.

Incidently just after posting that recommendation I was reading SEO Chat and found out how easy it is to alter your Alexa rank. Should have known better really than to think it was a reliable source.
