So are the ones you are doing go to be graphically intense boxes of non-converting shit like most designers spew forth, or are they going to mesh well with what link lists prefer to list? In other words, are they going to look like the galleries in your portfolio, or are they going to be something we list owners want? Clean, simple, etc?

I try and ad at least one link in every gallery I do in the html. As I said I have not added anything new to my portfolio in a very long time as it is getting redone with scrpting and several other things this month.

First off, I would never place a banner over TITLE on the index.

You have a blank space below the banner...May not impact your sales but it's annoying to see spaces on the page.

Same thing with main.html. Check it out at 1024 wide and the page is full of empty spaces.

Have you ever surfed GG's LL? There are tons of free sites listed there that'll help you design better sites.

I would ALWAYS place a banner over the title on a free site. What does the title of the free site earn you? And the top spot on index is far and away the #1 clicked spot.

No offense I hope, but really the title of the free site, IMHO, belongs below the top ad, and doesnt need to be repeated anywhere else on the free site. It doesnt make you any money.

With the new 2257 stuff, I'm hoping to crank out a few free sites of my own and post for some critical reviews, but theres always gonna be a top banner ;)

Most paysite tours suck on preselling. You send a surfer to a tour without building something up, the conversions are going to suck. Most sales come off the index because 100% of LL traffic and a large percentage of SE traffic land on the index first and trickle down from there to the gallery pages. The highest number of uniques on the index of course means highest no. of clickthrus from there - that doesn't mean those clicks are going to be productive, especially it comes from a boring 468x60 banner you slap on top of the page.

What does the title of a free site earn me? With H1/h2, it earns me traffic from Google and Yahoo, which converts at 1:50 instead of 1:200.

The bottom line: Using a banner above the title is personal preference; I personally think it's a newb tactic similar to linking to a thumb and forcing clickthrus that generates no sales. Besides, it looks like shit.

well it looks like Zuzana has now made her way over here to spam her wares, what a big surprise! since the novelty has worn off on the pond and she continually gets her ass handed to her on a platter (and not only for spam either), she now thinks she can come over here and get away with it. Nice try Zuzana, this is so pathetic to say the least!

You can still get the benefit of a headline tag without it being the first thing in the html, or use css so it *is* the first thing in html, but appearing below the primary, most productive ad.

It only looks like shit if the design is shit ;) A banner alone is usually a waste since it's not 1996 anymore thats for sure.. but a nice table style ad works.

I'm tending to go on and on and on as I edit this post, so instead of all my reasons, I'll just agree to disagree. :D
