I like FileZilla
It does everything I need, plus it also has the option of running in secure ftp mode. |

People seem to have very strong opinions about their favorite FTP clients. Thanks for all the feedback.
If you have telnet access to both servers then doing tar is even faster then ftp for server to server transfers but then we're talkingthe difference between 90 miles and hour and 95. |
Somewhere in my notes I have the how to for opening up a shell and doing server to server transfers.
It's something like [ftp://[user[:password]@]host[:port]/path[/]] | -u [ftp://[user[:password]@]host[:port]/path[/]] I haven't done it in years so I don't remember the exact syntax. I guess man ftp would be a good place to start, lol. |
Cleo,
I dont think many hosts would allow that sort of connection these days.. as always.. I am happy to be proved wrong.:) DD |
wow - FlashXP looks pretty nice - I think I will give it a shot. Been looking for an FTP client that can handle server-to-server transfers (is this also called 'shotgun' transfer?)

I forgot to mention BeyondCompare. It's a handy tool to have in your toolbox as well. Great for syncing things up between your local repository and your website or Host to Host syncronizing. And, it's free. :)
