Should I bump this?

Instead of bumping this thread you better tell the lazy and dishonest owner of the damn link list to send an email out to people, not every single submitter or link list owner read this board or check to see who might be screwing them daily. If Dave has time to go to other boards and brag about his extra money, then he should have 5 fuckin' minutes for an email. Tell him stop being an asshole and act resposible.

The only place it was posted about was here, and I was the one who posted looking for sites like I said, CrazySy. Dave owns the domain, someone else was maintaining it and trashed the database long before I heard about it.

So I bumped it for the purpose of getting more exposure to the people who submitted there. Also because within 15 hours of the thread starting there was speculation about all kinds of things, but 32 hours after I got into it not a single reply.

I can understand an angry bitch thread, but it's odd that not a single person contacted me before, during, or since. A simple board search would have turned up my name. And spending days on end with people on ICQ, I'd have thought someone might have had my ICQ number if they had an issue to discuss.

If it's just an angry thread then I'll drop it. I thought discussion was being sought with all the talk of someone coming to post and all that.

I've never traded with the guy, least I dont think so, so no skin off here. Course does burn me when people trade than change a site and trades are gone, without telling any trade partners, dont think any of us, enjoy that situation. And people wonder why it can be tough to get link trades. Hard to trust people when stuff like this happens.

Not adding flames, just saying, think that was the point.

Tom, this is not an angry thread. It's about dishonesty and lack of responsibility by someone who chooses to put one of his rep on the line rather than taking responsibility for his own action. English is my second language but I try to be a bit clear here:

Why didn't he email his submitters prior to change and let them know about it so they could take any needed action?

Why didn't he email other link lists who had trade going with him?

If a submitter changes a site after listing that would break the rules is called a cheater, scammer and many more names but when a program owner pulls a shit like that it's called a mistake? There was no mistake, he knew exactly what he was doing and I should have started this in the possible cheater forum.

All I say is, why does he have time to go to other boards and make posts such as " I have $40k extra and blah blah blah and more fuckin' blah....." but he had no time to notify people prior to change the site and send all the traffic directly to a review site?

Maybe Mr Yum knows more about it than I do, it's certainly possible I guess as he spoke with Dave directly. All I know is that I was told it was no longer a submittable site and that the database was gone.

I also had a hard link trade with the index page as I said, and had to remove it as well. I get the feeling that whoever was running it flaked out.

Dave would not knowingly link up sites then just erase the link list. Thats just not in the realm of possibility. He didnt run the site, he probably has 5000 domains with projects going on all of the time under hired hands control.

The bottom line is that it sucks for you, it sucks for me, it sucks for everyone who was linked there. I took it on myself as the person who posted it on this board to offer free link trades and free site listings with no recipricols as a gesture of apology. My sites are on autopilot, I dont take submissions. I only have 2 outlinks that are not sponsor links. One to my girlfriends private link list, and one to Robbo's top list thats been on there for years now.

To my knowledge, the ONLY people that submitted there were people from this board, since it's the ONLY place I posted about it because I KNOW there are good submitters here. I'm sorry I didnt reply sooner, I forgot about it amidst my everyday duties, but I am also getting the feeling it wouldnt have mattered. |huh

PR Tom no no implications to Pimproll at all. I have been an affiliate there from early on and quite happy. And whoever grabbed that domain many years ago it`s been passed far down the line through various owners. No need to name the registrar either. They were one of the biggest are still in operation and who knows what happened then.

Very decent gesture of you Tom...especially for something that really isn't/wasn't your responsibility.

All I know about the situation is what Dave told me, which has already been posted. Originally sexpc was his baby...he later handed it off to an affiliate (he did not say why)...at some point the affiliate killed the db and it went to hell from there. And that PR no longer has anything to do with sexpc.

However, I do have to agree with Sy. Given that PR started the ball rolling with the site and it was widely known that this was in fact a site being backed by a large sponsor, PR should have made more effort to control the site. And certainly should have made some sort of public notifications when everything went to hell. As you mentioned, most of your submitters were from these forums. A post here when the db was lost would have gone a long way toward stemming the tide ill will. And if PR didn't know the db was lost, they should have...whether an affiliate was running it or not isn't relevant, as everyone else still thought it was a PR backed site.

Again, decent of you to step up Tom...you're an honorable guy so that doesn't surprise me |thumb

But at this point, you're doing damage control for damage you didn't cause.
