Since this seems like the "post 'yer pics" thread:

http://www.elegantwebs.com/tmp/newpics/

It really is interesting how one forms ideas about how others would look just from reading posts or hearing a radio show.

I thought Greenguy would be taller from his deeper voice. I sure didn't think he's have reddish hair!

Thought Jim would be sorta a lanky dude.

Yeah- nice toys you guys! GG, how did you win that Viper again? I recall something about it from one of the radio shows mentioned in passing. Caranddriver TV just showed the Viper get together this past weekend.

Jim- you anywhere near Orange County Choppers? Just curious. Get any time to actually ride the bike? Must be sweet upstate.

That's usually where LI'ers head to in the summer.

Nobody usually let's others ride their HD. Not even family.

When my cousin wanted his 1st bike I helped out by riding the 250cc Nighthawk he bought back to his house...during middle of January. Froze my nuts off.

He got the hang of it quickly and sold it to a guy who didn't have a clue. The guy handed over the cash...got on it and promptly smashed into a brick wall.

|jester| He wasn't hurt except his pride and his GF yelling what an ass he was.

So, my cousin starts out with a used Sportster. Did he ever offer to let me take it for a spin? NOPE.

I had this bike:

And let him carefully try out a 750...no HD, but still was cherry and my baby! Not to mention it's super EASy to get parts for any HD, but NOT so easy to get parts for an '82 Honda.

So, he never let me give it a ride. |pissed| Not even the friggin' sporty.

Then he got the FatBoy, then just kept moving 'up' the line. Has a Heritage now.

Not that this bothers me or anything... ;)

I won it from CE Cash in Vegas 3 years ago - back then, they gave you a raffle ticket for each sale you made. Then they pulled one out at the convention. They also gave away a PT Cruiser, a Hummer & $100 cash.

Now they have the rewards points, which is much better cause everyone wins :)

It's true that parts are easy to get but they are really expensive. Anything that goes on a Harley that is made by Harley Davidson is expensive. My wife ordered me the sidecar that goes with my bike several years ago. I waited over 2 years for it then said screw it, give me my money back. The cost for the sidecar was $8k. You could buy a lot of different bikes for that price.

Yeah- but what does that have to do with the yin and yang of me offering my cousin to ride my bike which had parts that simply cannot be replaced?

I mean, we are talking about *maybe* a tip over accident because shit happens...but nothing worse if you are on a slow side street or parking lot, etc...

Now- if it has a custom paint job- I can understand that. But we are talking about a Sportster at the time. I have since ridden one and it is far easier to ride than my Honda Sabre was.

All HD's are super low to the ground, making it really near impossible for a decent rider who isn't a crazy fuck to tip over.

So, if GG was a cousin of yours and not only helped teach you how to ride, but drove home a starter bike in the dead of winter, and offered up his 750cc with full fairing and other parts that cannot be replaced- AND you knew he had enough money to replace the scuffed parts in the even of a tip over...

...you still wouldn't let him sputter around a parking lot?

Not that this bothers me mind you. ;)

Sure, but it takes a hell of a lot of points to get a Viper. |rasta|

Great idea to post pics. On the night before name tags, it's kinda hard to figure out who's who. I'm usually figured out by my loud mouth... hehe. For those of you not within earshot, here are a couple of pics. I couldn't find any others, but i pretty much look like this...
