I just stumbled upon the base scripts for that thing just the other day. I didn't have the entire project backed up when I lost it during one of my bi-annual server crashes, but enough there to start from if I ever take it up again. That thing would create standard length descriptions though, not blog posts. ;)

I've decided that I'm putting this rule into place:

All Free Sites must come with a description of 99 words or less.

I think the best place for those 100 keyword rich words would be put to better use on MY index page. ;)

I like that rule...

Linkster 2007-02-06 08:23 AM

(from http://www.greenguysboard.com/board/...ad.php?t=37994 )

Wiggles - the reason is pretty simple - a bunch of us older LLs had category and main page traffic trades with netponds LL - they decided to just pull all of them without any notification to LL owners - evidently they figured we wouldnt notice :) They continued to get the traffic/links in from us and pulled everything - and I tend to be an old pain in the ass when it comes to tricks like that - so they are not accepted at linkforsex - I believe there will be a few other LLs that might follow along when they discover all of their link trades have been pulled

plateman 2007-02-07 12:24 PM

Still no category trades put back up at netpond LL

Dam If I was gonna redo my LL the category trades would be the first thing to have up - IMO

dam just looked at his index no trades they either

I dont know the new owner, but you dont do your trades like that, must be nice to have a bunch on one way links pointing to netpond LL for weeks now, or longer

I am pulling links unless there's a good reason, very soon

hate to sound harsh but hey!

there was a thread on this but search couldn't find it after numerous tries

Some info in this thread...

MrYum 2007-02-07 04:48 PM

Funny you should mention that Plateman. I was just checking those last night and noticed trades still aren't back up. Not cool at all :(

Wiggles 2007-02-07 06:18 PM

i thought jeremy still ran it?

Linkster 2007-02-07 11:17 PM

And a thread that contains my response when I found out about it:
http://www.greenguysboard.com/board/...ad.php?t=37994

Sorry - but a LL that takes down links without notification and looks like they arent going to put them back up (been quite a while now) gets pulled - and I added the rule that I dont accept netpondcash advertising free sites anymore

plateman 2007-02-08 12:11 AM

I pulled all links, I forgot about it untill last night when i was looking at my trades, and remembered the orginal thread when another LL asked what happened to my links...after that crazy new description rule

Not a bad rule. I'm way past tired of seeing their massively over-used Cheaters & Strippers and Dogging content. The fact that they are quietly turning a link list into a paysite review site while burying free site links makes me happy that I never submitted there.

erots7 2007-02-08 09:57 AM

I don't understand.. whats so bad about having lot of text on page that links to your freesites? more text = more rankings/higher rankings = more traffic.

What am I missing?

too much work and no return for the extra effort.

erots7 2007-02-08 11:44 AM

dunno, i don't really find it hard, making a thumbnail for them when submitting there actually takes longer than coming up with 150 words :)

ok |crazy|

Linkster 2007-02-08 03:38 PM

Im in the DDave camp here - the link swaps have been pulled over there for a month - no notice from anyone - and they look like they are using the same damn review graphics from a very sucessful review site on the web - so my links to them are gone - and have instituted a policy of not accepting free sites advertising netpondcash

(can you tell Im not happy?)

Linkster 2007-02-08 03:42 PM

In answer to the 100 word descr thingy
Why not try to sucker your submitters into doing site reviews for you - hell - they sucker people into bigger things than that these days - certainly cheaper than hiring real reviewers for your link list/review site.

Greenguy 2007-02-08 05:09 PM

Jeremy confirmed to Linkster & me that he has not worked with/for Netpond since December, so at least we know he's not lost his mind :)

I also sent an ICQ to Meatman to see if he can explain what's going on.

Wiggles 2007-02-08 05:12 PM

i got my spanking freesite listed as #1 review for spanking category freesites, not alot of traffic. like under 20uniques in a week.

mihai 2007-02-08 07:20 PM

Hey GG, is Diako that maintain NP linklist now...
You can reach him at diako74 at netpond.com...
And the required description is not 100 (or 150 words) but 150 CHARACTERS...
(and the traffic I got from them is pretty ok)

2 is my limit on contacting people on problems that I really don't care about :D But feel free to send him this thread if you want.

And as far as the 100/150 thing, I'd bet that it was 100 words & they changed it to 150 characters after they realized how fucking stupid that request is.

So you don't like more traffic? |huh

To be honest I find some linklist rules much more bizarre than something like 150 word description.

I guess you'll soon see what this is about. Although I must say that Netpond Linklist already sends pretty decent traffic.
