FAT NASTY ASS :(

Same here. I had even a few zero-sales days in the last half of March. Zero-sales days happen from time to time but rarely a few in a row.

March was about average, but the start of April is totally kick-ass! Now I just have to keep it up for another 29 days :)

I actually had a pretty good March overall. Mind you, it doesn't take much to make a good month since my bar is so low at the moment. The boost over last month was nice tho. Keeps one motivated.

Well I found out where I was losing a few sign-ups and it pisses me off. The free sites I was using in addition to my own sites were doing quite well, giving me an extra 10 or so sign-ups a month but as I said there was a change of TOS and I lost them. I was promoting payserve sites on them and I was the only webmaster doing those sites there. Now I find that the owner of the freesites has replicated my sites even down to the names and is promoting payserve himself. I guess he saw that my sites attracted quite a bit of traffic so he should do it himself. At the very least he could have signed up under me but he didn't even do that. So now I get to see his sites there taking my traffic. That is the rub with free sites, 0 control. Now I am going to have to get off my butt and replicate those sites on my bandwidth and get that traffic back. For you big guys it might not seem like a lot of money but it all adds up.

On another subject, is it the norm for affiliates to have to pay when a check goes missing? For the first time a cheque from the USA didn't arrive and I was told that for the first cheque they would not charge me for having to cancel it but if it happened again I would have to pay $30 per cheque. I know here in NZ you could not charge someone else for having to re-issue a cheque so is this just an affiliate thing or standard in the USA?

Cheers

When you say "free sites" do you mean free hosting?

gotcha 2007-04-09 07:59 PM

GG - yeah I mean free hosting. I liked the way this hosting was offered, the links from the owner were at the bottom of your page and barely noticable unlike a lot of free hosting that is out there. Live and learn.

Greenguy 2007-04-09 08:26 PM

Can you post the name of the free host so that other can stay away from them?

gotcha 2007-04-09 08:56 PM

GG - I don't want to post their name as I rebuilt 2 of my sites and put them back up and I don't want to lose them. I would love to just mail him and say he is a shit and where he can put his site but it comes down to traffic and as much as I hate what he did I do want his traffic until I reroute it to my own site. I also wouldn't want to tell people it is a bad site as they give good traffic and promotion for a free hosting site you just need to watch your back. That seems to be the rule online. Don't do something too well or it will be copied/stolen/removed.

if your making any sales, do the right thing and get a paid host, shop around there are good cheap ones, dont let any free hosts fuck you up!

You're nuts & you derserve to loose your traffic/sites when they fuck you over again.

gotcha 2007-04-25 11:27 PM

plateman - I have 3 .com sites I pay for, these were just additional for extra traffic/sales but I know what you mean :)

greenie - I remade the sites on my own .com in case that happens and I'm only nuts when my wife has pms!
