40 pics on a free site??? This a typo or for real?

LOL...what would you suggest?

How about 20-24 pics? That would be in line with almost all of the other major LLs.

SimonT 2008-08-14 09:24 AM

LOL, beat me to it redraven :)

That's just a last ditch for whatever else reason to decline. 20-24 pics are fine.

If a LL says in its submit rules, "You site must have at least 40 pics", why am I even going to bother submitting a site with 20-24? Do I cross my fingers and hope that one rule or another is just there as a "last ditch to decline"? And yes, I can even cope with the vague "I reserve the right to decline any site I want" kind of rule.

I do check rules before I submit -- if I have a 2 gallery 24 picture site, and I know the LL submission form says a 30 pic minuimum (like Persian Kitty), I don't risk being blacklisted by submitting sites that do not fit the rules. Some LLs insist on a minimum of 12 pics per gallery page, and if I am building a 3 page gallery, I normally use 10 pics per gallery. That is their right and almost every LL spells it out clearly.

Say what you mean and mean what you say, especially when you have set it down in your rules for submission.

I'm much rather see a min number of total pics that a rule specifying how many per gallery - I have a bunch of sponsors I can't use effectively because they only give you 10 pics/set...

But yeah - Make the rules reflect what you want. I don't bother submitting when I know my pages don't meet the requirements.

I was told when i got back into the biz "stay away from jays", but i submitted anyways and it was all good because you listed me. - Thanks Jay!

I already updated my recips DB to match those on your site, thanks again!

Next time I FTP in, I will edit that on the rules.

Don't change rules based on what submitters want.. it is *your* link list, and you should be calling the shots here. You apparently don't need to follow the pack to have site builders submitting to you either. Decide what you want -- number of pics, type of pics, every important detail - and stick to it. Make your rules easy to understand and follow, and get rid of the unwritten crap. If every site followed the same set of rules, there would be no variety for the visitors, now would there?

And BTW, not that it matters, I stopped submitting when I started seeing all the waffling - over the recips, over what was accepted or not, over rules that say one thing but you do something else. It had nothing to do with the A-B-C stuff. I am an old-fashioned girl. If you say I need to do 1, 2, and 3 to be listed, that is what I do and when I have not done those, I don't submit to your site. I have more places to submit than time and energy to do so... and that makes me picky. Waffling and changing your rules on the fly doesn't give the site builders much to respect, does it? Don't let us push you around -- do what you want.

I have a lot more than 40, not sure why I haven't been accepted, but then again might be a long wait. The Hun is backed up 2 dang months, now that is a wait!
