Great first blog. Having a nice design and even some unique text puts you ahead of the zillions of splash-blogs out there, the kind I find all the time that put up four crappy posts 14 months ago and now wants a link trade with you.

Anyway, in addition to what's been stated, it would be good to have your title somewhere in text so you could use

tags, and have a catchphrase you can use under it with

tags for more juice.

Using keywords in your post titles is smart. Many do not do this.

Add a tag cloud to the sidebar.

Submit it to blog directories for a shot of traffic. http://www.adultblogresource.com/submitter/ is good to start.

Actually good modern blog design is fairly easy to do and doesnt require much graphic work, most of it can be done in HTML directly. You can take a look at www.designsnack.com to pick up some of the latest 'blog design' trends :D
