I only live 8 miles away but don't plan on going as I just don't see any reason to go with these prices.
Last year I won a ticket so I only had to buy one ticket at the door which was $300. So we ended up spending around $500 all together for last year's show, drove home each day, that was almost deserted and basically turned into a couple of relaxing days at what is a very nice resort but business wise it was pretty much worthless. Last year I waited until the last minute before deciding to go but this year that would mean paying $900 for the two of us to walk through the door for a show that has become irrelevant to my business. |
Until they can move away from that venue the costs will not go down. The location, and their contract with the hotel, are the primary factors behind the pricing.
Megan's response just reinforces the point that AVN has completely lost touch with the realities of the online industry, not that they've ever really has a clue in that regard anyway. Hopefully I'll see some of you at Cybernet Expo in San Francisco, 'cuz I won't be going to Florida in August. |
I'd comment, but I think I said all my thoughts on this YEARS ago.
Someone who's new to the board needs to do a couple of searches & read thru some old threads :D |

Cybernet is far more intimate and is very good for doing biz, last years show paid divdends for me... |
Since I'm at XBiz, I thought I'd do a little price comparison:
AVN: $250 Early Registration, $350 Late Registration, $450 Day Of Event XBiz: $100 Early Registration, $200 Late Registration, $250 Day Of Event |
Wheres Evil Chris to make some sense of all of this?

It sounds like the number of early registrations for AVNShow are low are they're getting desperate.

Maybe by the time the show starts they will be giving out free tickets so that the hotel can sell food and drinks. :D

I felt like I got shafted during the Jan show. Our whole team went and we bought 5 tickets.
I was to meet a few new affiliates inside the Traffic Dinner. I wasnt allowed inside WTF.. Imagine being an affiliate manager and calling your affiliate who is already inside the suite. Then telling that person I'm not allowed in. Friggin embarrassing to say the least. So the team wanted to go to Florida this year. I said no. Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice hell no. |
I thought the Las Vegas show seemed pretty dead.
