Been away for a bit, I come back to horror health stories. Get well soon Greenie and Cleo.

When I first developed RSI 12 years ago, I went through the whole gamut of alternative medicine. I know this: kineseology is utter bullshit, chiropractors aren't much better, acupuncture is an exercise in cash removal and homeopathy is... well, I'm embarrassed to even admit that I tried it. What did make a difference was regular exercise, stretching and massages.

That said, a pinched nerve or slipped disc is a whole different ballgame and I hope the doctors can find a solution for you Greenie.

I just saw this too, get better Greenie. Pinched nerves are NOT fun.

Having been born with pinched nerves in my neck because of extra ribs, I know that pain, I had to give up a career because of it. (I had a full-paid 4-year scholarship for music, I was a very, very good cello player, but playing made me in pain so bad, it was all I could not to cry during concerts, damn I loved playing).

Grandma Scrotum is right, Chiropractor has helped somewhat, but stretching and exercise helps me more than anything. I still have a lot of problems with numbness if I get my wrist bent too much but at least I can type.

And I've heard of aspartame poisoning doing that. Might want to check out gluten intolerance while you are at it, as that can cause pain issues too.

Hang in there, they find the cause they can get it better. You also might want to look into making sure your keyboard is exactly the right height, as we all spend so much time at them, if it is off even an inch up or down can cause strains too.

Thanks for all the good wishes everyone :)

The good news is that after sleeping pretty much 24 hours & taking steady doses of steroids, the pain has dulled itself quite a bit. The bad news is, my hand is almost completely numb & my left hand is starting to follow suit.

But I have to get some work done - like update these link lists - so let's hope the pain holds out for a couple hours as I type with one finger :D

good luck!

wish you a save and speedy recovery, get well soon!

Greenguy 2011-11-07 04:36 PM

Well, I got the MRI read by a specialist today & it's not good. Seems my spinal cord is rubbing against my spine over 4 or 5 vertebrae. We have no idea the cause - I guess usually it's caused by some sort of trauma, but nothings happened to me along those lines. Just bad luck I guess.

I'll know more on Wednesday when I go in with my wife & mom to go over options, but odds are surgery is in my future.

They increased my pain meds, so I can at least work, even though my hands are constantly cold & numb.

This really sucks :(

Ms Naughty 2011-11-07 05:09 PM

Damn Greenie, that really sucks. Although it's good they've discovered the cause. Hope it works out.

dunc 2011-11-07 05:32 PM

That really does suck Greenie - let hope they can fix it soon.

Isn't it weird how injuries manifest themselves - you've done an injury to your back, and your hand doesn't work |huh

JustRobert 2011-11-08 12:37 AM

Was not expecting to hear that Greenie :(

JustKim and I send you warm thoughts and best wishes for positive news.

Simon 2011-11-08 09:34 AM

Wow, I never knew you could get injured like that playing fantasy football. ;)

Wishing you well on the options visit and with whatever you choose to do about it.

Thanks Simon - that made me smile for the 1st time in about a week :)

Fonz 2011-11-08 11:20 AM

Ouch! I hope that you don't need surgery. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Feel better greenie

ecchi 2011-11-10 04:47 AM

Hope you get it sorted ASP. My mother had a similar problem, but with her wrist, so I know (all be it second hand) what pain you are in.

spookyx 2011-11-10 10:31 PM
