well I'm coming in Thursday afternoon and leaving Sunday and I'm sure theres a few more people who will be in a day or 2 early

Dr Bizzaro 2004-04-13 10:38 AM

Once it gets closer to the date, we'll try to put together a meeting place or an informal get together for Friday night as well.
A bunch of people will be in town Friday night.

Ramster 2004-04-13 11:36 AM

I haven't bought my plane ticket yet but my hotel is booked for Friday night so I'll be there.

plateman 2004-04-15 11:24 AM

wow could be 300 a room anybody want to share a room and split the cost..

Dr Bizzaro 2004-04-15 11:40 AM

If you use Expedia and look in the Loop area or even South or West of the downtown area, the rooms will be less.

We got ours for around $200/night. (Hotel Allegro - rooms still available.)

Also, it might be cheaper to stay outdie of the city and see if the hotel offers any type of shuttle service or other transportation to/from the city.

Torn Rose 2004-04-15 07:06 PM

well, thanks to talking to Ramster (buddy fucker) I changed our hotel to the Congress Plaza Hotel at $140/night. (they still have rooms)

It's 2.3 miles from the gathering point, and if more of us stay there it will be a cheap cab ride.

So far I know We and Ramster will be there, anyone else and if so would you like to plan on doing a Breakfast on Sat or Sun?

plateman 2004-04-19 10:03 PM

Ok i will be coming more than likely early saturday so dr biz you can add me to the list

thanks later guys

Dr Bizzaro 2004-04-20 08:31 AM

Only 9 more days to RSVP.

Tic, toc, tic, toc....

Jman 2004-04-21 11:08 PM

Is it looking like this years gathering will be much larger than last year? I had a great time last year and will be there regardless, just curious.

Surfn 2004-04-22 03:52 AM

At least triple last years. :)

MMemmer 2004-04-22 10:49 AM

We are trying to get someone from our Chicago data center to attend but we are still in the wait and see mode??

Surfn 2004-04-26 12:21 PM

We need to know by Midnight this Saturday May 1.

If you are uncertain but plan on coming let us know. Better to have too much seating rather than not enough.

ocho-ocho 2004-04-29 07:50 AM

I wish i can be there too (sigh)|goodnight

MrMaryLou 2004-04-29 12:49 PM

BTW whats should the cab fare be from the airport its good to know since some try to hose ya :)

Chop Smith 2004-04-29 01:01 PM

Mr MM, in September it was about $30

Dr Bizzaro 2004-04-29 02:13 PM

Depends on what airport you fly in to and what time of day. Midway is a shorter ride and thusly less expensive.
Traffic will play a big roll in it as well. Rush hour traffic sucks and sitting in a cab watching your money tick away really sucks.

From either Airport, you can take the "EL" (Elevated trains. Although a few go underground as well.) into the city for $1.50. From O'Hare it takes about 45 minutes. From Midway it's about 25. Just follow the "Trains to City" signs is either airport.

Ramster 2004-04-29 02:26 PM

The train thing sounds kind of cool. But being a big ole city ya'll got there will I get robbed travelling on the El. |jester|

MrMaryLou 2004-04-29 02:35 PM

I think I will stick with a cab LOL

The "El" isn't bad. It's not like this is NewYork City. This is Chicago, baby!

Since O'Hare is the last stop on the "El", most of the people on the train will either be people who work at the airport, or people just coming from somewhere.

It looks a bit scary, but it's pretty simple when you know what color line you need to be on. Here is a Map of the whole system: http://www.chicago-l.org/maps/track/index.html#current
O'Hare is the blue line.

For more information you can visit: http://www.chicago-l.org/

Surfn 2004-04-29 03:04 PM

I've never taken the EL. I have taken the SouthShore many times when I was younger. :)

Greenguy 2004-04-29 03:04 PM

I'll be taking advantage of the Dr Bizzaro Limo Service |bananna|
