My question is, if you dont want people coming through from board tracker why don't you remove your board from thier list of boards???|bananna|
|
Deepai - you're one to talk - you spam. And you spam badly.
How many times have you been warned about posting off topic to threads? http://www.greenguysboard.com/board/...&threadid=8783 http://www.greenguysboard.com/board/...&threadid=5414 Like we've always said, on topic posts are for the most part fine. But when someone asks for one things & then someone spams somehting that is not what the poster is looking for, regardless of if you came here via Board Tracker, All Of'em, another board & were just reading thru the days posts, then we have a BIG problem. |

I also understand that a person would have to be a fool to not use these services if they were in the business to sell Adult Webmaster related products. But, like Greenguy and I have said...it has to stay on topic. This thread for instance... http://www.greenguysboard.com/board/...&threadid=5414 troy was looking for specific content. You came along spamming for something that had nothing to do with that content. The problem, as Greenguy has said, is boardtracker and other services are great tools. But, if you fail to read the thread before you promote your service, you are doing the original poster, the resource site you are spamming and even yourself a disservice. I have done my share of promotions. All of it for sponsor type programs but have never posted off topic to promote said service. And, if I do say so myself, I have done very well for the people I have done it for. For instance, for the 8 months I worked for Flashcash, they had an increase of 5000 webmasters. That increase was both because of my ideas, promotions and the Rhino's above reproach reputations. When I worked for CE, they had a very large increase in both webmasters and sales. I would give numbers but, that is proprietary information. When I started running Ultracash, my "scumbag" partner went from having $50k in the bank to several $million within the year he went on vacation. And, if someday I decide to either work for another sponsor or start a program myself, I am quite sure I will generate a lot of extra money for either an employer or myself. All I am really saying is...in marketing, there is a right way to do it and a wrong way to do it. Your way is the text book example of the wrong way to do it. Most times you only piss people off and while they may have signed up before your post, they don't because of it. And please, don't take this the wrong way. This is not a scolding but only a tip for anyone trying to market a program and/or a product. |
Seems like everyone still has opinions on this................ Good:)

How about TJ Pat's comment that he ended up using two of the providers that I sent him to? ContentShopper's business model is really none of your concern. It is free to you, and it is free to anyone you know. You mention Tia's presence on another board, how many boards do I post at? I like Tia (and she may even become a CS client, will that change your opinion of her?), but I think it is safe to say that I have a few more accumulative posts than her. Hell, I even have more posts than her here. Big deal, what does that prove? And guess what, she agrees with me on this topic, or did you miss that? |

Ok Dave.. this is in reply to your last post, I didn't want to use the quote because it was so long..

You said good products don't need spam. I'm assuming you mean advertising here.. Let me ask you, how are new people supposed to know about my product if I don't tell them about it? Now you may say.. buy some advertising. I will be honest and tell you that I don't like the ROI on purchased webmaster board advertisment. I've done it before and it just wasn't worth it. I haven't bought it from here, but have from other boards. I find it's a better investment to spend my time posting. I understand you have a business to run here, and I also understand that it's a tough thing to balance paid advertisers with ones who get it free from posting. Other boards have tried to eliminate signatures, and it hasn't worked out very well for them. No one wants to pay for advertising on a board with a low post count. You sell to surfers.. we sell to you.. I post because I want to promote my business. I also post because I like helping newbies, but the promotion part is my main reason. Posting on boards is a very good tool for promotion, and it's not something that I can see stopping anytime soon. I've known from the very start how Greenguy and Jim felt about spam, and self promotion. It's tolerated less here than almost any other board except for two which I won't name. I'm sticking my neck out here and being totally honest with you about my intentions and reasons for doing what I do. If you feel you'd like to ban me, go ahead, if not, then I'll conduct business as I always have. Quote:

Not to beat a dead horse here, but if your members can't ask to be spammed by content providers, hosting companies, sponsor programs and expect to get an answer, don't you think they are going to go to a board where they can ask the question and get a response?
That is one reason we came up with this handy search box - it allows you to keep your members on your resource site without having to go elsewhere to seek what they need |
Moot point - new forum - http://www.greenguysboard.com/board/...&threadid=9048 - get back to work :)

Just to throw a newbie to the boards point of view in here.
I left a board to come here....Why? Because it was filled with designers, hosts, content providers and paysite owners that were not interested in helping out the new guys on the block and more interested in sellin their shit. Coming to this board has been refreshing to me because I have found LL owners and submitters who are honestly trying to help those of us not "in the know" to become better educated in this business. As has been said before in this thread, a good service doesn't need to be spammed. If service providers were truly interested in helping out an individual webmaster by providing their service they could do so through PM's and not sig whore or spam openly in the thread. Especially when their posts are usually limited to one or two line responses that basically just say "Hey, our stuff is good....click here!". The sight of that type of post alone just makes me shake my head and ignore the entire post and move on to the next. GG & J is head and shoulders above the rest in their control of shameless spamming and I for one greatly appreciate their efforts. I don't care if webmaster service providers get upset about the spam control policy on this board because that very policy is what is keeping me coming back to it everyday. It may seem extreme, but their philosophy is dead on. If you want to advertise your business, then buy a banner spot, or provide a better service to webmasters and the good word will get around a lot faster than spam ever will. You can hate my post and quote it to the max and try to argue the point....but spam is spam, and it frustrates all of us who are here honestly trying to learn something about this business. I now return you to your regularly scheduled program |jester| |

As a rule of thumb, I'd say if you come to this board simply to spam your product (even on topic), that will be frowned upon. This place is for discussion and there are plenty of other boards to go "spam" your products on. :) |
I am sure it shits people off that want to make a relevent post about their products... But it also makes me want to spend advertising dollars here a lot more than anywhere else. (a thought for those suggesting GGandJim is anti-business)

Not yet Tia... was just an observation from someone that has been shopping recently. :) When I started comparing GGandim to boards that work on getting eyeballs any way they can, it became very obvious that the advertisers here get looked after many times better than average. Best evidence of that to me is that rarely is any sponsor rammed down webmaster throats here.... even if they are the current primary board sponsor... but from private chats, I bet almost every regular either promotes or has taken time to look at all of the sponsors advertised up top and in the newsletters. |

let me know if you do and how it works out :) |
