Linkster is right, there are many good reasons to incorporate. While you are working on your social you are paying taxes on every dime.

I have an "S" corp and while I do pay personal income tax as well as corporate tax, the two combined do not come near what they would be as a sole propieter.

Find a good tax person that can explain it to you. It is worth the time and effort.

I saw you used only 55 gigs of bandwidth and figured I'd better make some free sites and see what I can do. I'm not making as much profit as I would like with the TGP traffic alone, and I've already used 600 gigs of bandwidth this month. What link lists send a good amount of traffic and will list a noob?

Alphawolf 2004-10-20 09:12 PM

600GB? Ouch.

All LL are friendly to noobs if you follow the rules. :)

new to free sites too

I needed some inspiration about free site building because I'm new to freesites as well. I need to change the niche I submit to as well.

Alphawolf, your posts rock |bananna|

Congrats!!!

I remember when I was working on sites in 98 to 99 when I finally made my max of $1,500 per month by making free sites, avs's, and tgps. Don't make the mistake like I did and slack off. I thought I knew everything and didn't change accordingly with the market. PLus I took over a year off. Now I barely make $100 a month from my pages. That's why I'm here so I can learn from the best. Good luck and continue making more!! You just made me feel better that I can get back what I once had and more.

Welcome! This is a great place to learn. It's refreshing to see honest webmasters rather than all the "I convert 1:20 on TGP traffic & drive a Ferrari" types that frequent other boards. And who, of course, actually live with their mothers. ;)

Okay okay okay - so I convert at 1:40 and drive a porsche . . . shoot me!

Just kiddin and KCat has it right - this is the best place around to figure out what the hell you are going to do to pay the rent check! Read up and people like Alphawolf will make it all worth your while.

Also - your comment about not being able to make a living off free sites is definitely out there - I know of many people that are making way more than their old corporate jobs just doing free sites - of course theyve been doing it for 8 months now :)

Alphawolf - definitely take advantage of getting the sponsors to let you into the sites to choose your own content - it will usually be a little better than the "provided content" on the outside and in a lot of cases will get listed a lot better and at more LLs :)

I'm not an IRS expert either, but I did do some research before incorporating, and you can apply for a 'Type-S' corporation, which,
as Linkster said lets you pass through your income after biz deductions to your personal income tax return. Depending on your situation, you could also divide up the income among other family members...
