It's very sad to see good people like him depart. I never got the chance to meet him personaly, but he always had a positive approach to things in life. He was one of the good ones and will be missed.

Finnbear was a regular submitor to my lists as well, his quality sites reflected his personal quality of character.

My thaughts go out to all his family. If there's anything I can do to help, please let me know.

LowryBigwood 2004-10-29 12:45 PM

I am very sad to read this. Finnbear was a great help to me, on here, and especially on my home board, TomsNewbieBooster. Here was truly, one of a kind, and always willing to give you some honest advice. I've got a lot of his sites listed on my link list, and will keep them there.

Now, this is just an idea, so don't bite my head off. What do you guys think about me using his referral urls on a some freesites I buiild, instead of using mine?

Maybe some of you would like to do this as well?

I don't know, this wasn't the way I wanted to start the day off. |sad|

FinnBear was one of my most favorite and most regular submitters, I was shocked to read about his sudden death and i wish i had words that could express how deeply sad i am now after reading this. for his death and for his family who deeply griefs about this sad event ( please forgive my english here, i am not in the mood for proper grammar)

I have noticed his absence while reviewing sites lately and was sure he was on vacation :(

If his wife reads this thread/board. I hope that you will be strong as possible through this sad event to carry on though it even very hard to even think about it right now when it is so painful inside and the world might seem so sad and dark... I've been through this (unfortunately) and know how hard it and long it takes.

I have found 209 sites that were submitted by FinnBear in my DB's and changed their submission date to the 31st of december 2004.

I will also add all the domains to the next crawl of Pornificent and i sincerely hope this will at least help a little for the time being and will help you with providing.

Please let me know if there is any thing else i can do to help you.
and can't help not saying this again... i share your deep pain.

That's really sad.

Makes you aware of the sense of community that this board provides.

I hope his wife can continue to benefit from his hard work.

First thing that came out of my mouth when I read the newsletter and spotter the mention of this was.. Oh, wow. It was a shock to see.. I never talked to him much, but I do know who he was...

May your soul find peace in the next life brother.. |sad|

Mateusz 2004-10-29 02:07 PM

These are so sad news :(
Life sucks sometimes, you see him posting and giving advices to newbies like everything's ok and next day you hear he's dead.

When I saw the topic I thought the same thing, that this has to mean something else. Unfortunately not....sad day :(

KCat 2004-10-29 02:19 PM

I didn't get a chance to meet FinnBear in person, but he was one of the sweetest, most helpful webmasters I've chatted with on the boards. I'll miss his face around here. :(

docholly 2004-10-29 02:24 PM

wow i just read this in the newsletter..

So Sad!! and i always loved his little notes about life in Finnland, his non-auto adventures.. etc.

Hopefully he's running thru a flowered field in constant sunshine.

with a flask at his side and a song in his heart.

Claws 2004-10-29 02:31 PM

Sad news. RIP Finnbear...

Kath 2004-10-29 02:36 PM

So sorry to hear the bad news... I always enjoyed his posts too - he was always eager to help others out, and always had something worthwhile to contribute to a conversation. He will definitely be missed.

I think it's awesome that people are working to help his wife benefit from his sites - hats off to all involved.

flyeruk 2004-10-29 03:00 PM

That really is sad news.

He always made me smile when I read his posts, seemed like a genuine sweet man with a fun loving personality.

And I did also wonder if he was on vacation as he was one of my regular submitters.

My thoughts too are with his family.

Robbo 2004-10-29 03:26 PM

I just heard about FinnBear. I had not had more than a few words with him but identified with his appreciation for music and the tastes of life. He obviously eminated his good nature as much as showed it in his work as is evident here. My thoughts go out to his family.

If anyone is interested, here is the link he had in his sig for a list of his free sites.

Trev 2004-10-29 05:04 PM

I'm like Useless Warrior... First thing I thought of when I read the link in the newsletter this morning was his avatar. What a warm and friendly picture it was, and what a nice guy he seemed like.

This is very sad news. GiGi please give his wife, family and friends all my best at this time.

xxxjay 2004-10-29 05:24 PM

That's is horrible. Sad to hear that.

koolkat 2004-10-29 05:27 PM

Wow... that's a real shocker! I remember Finnbear ever since he came here, and like the others, as soon as I heard the name you can immediatly picture his avatar. I guess that really goes to show you just never know, so enjoy every minute while you can! RIP Finnbear... you will be missed!!!

iggysick 2004-10-29 05:31 PM

|sad|
I know him like just 2 months or so but it was enough to see how good he was |sad|

Rest in peace Finnbear

JenC 2004-10-29 06:07 PM

Oh my goodness! That is terrible news! After seeing his avatar, I remember who he is now. He helped me with a few threads of mine and he always had kind words to say.

Please give my sympathies to his family. And leave his links up, after an expensive hospital stay and funeral expenses I'm sure they could use the money.

My heart is broken. That's too bad. :(

Alphawolf 2004-10-29 07:10 PM

Holy fuckin' shit.

:(

Man, ya never know when the last day on this earth will be.

|buddy| be with you, Finnbear!

Wow...hard to believe. :(

pornrex 2004-10-29 07:40 PM

This really SUX.

Finnbear was always offering to help - he was like my free site building Dad.

I have been coming to this board for almost a year now. Mostly in the beginning I would hover alot and read dialogue between webmasters and often I would wonder about things I did not understand.

Aside from the usual suspects that offer help (GG, Cleo, Fonz, Surf'n, XXXJay, DareUTwo, etc. this list is long people so don't feel slighted if I left you off!) without any strings attached, Finnbear was another of those guys that offered help.

At first I didn't appreciate his input, thinking to myself, "who is this guy", and "who does he think he is" so on and so forth. i grew from that first bit of advice from him - often times I never had the chance to thank him because I didn't want to forget what he had taught me...

I lost a brother several years ago to cancer (15 to be exact) and people lose someone special all the time.

I feel that we, as a board, lost a great "brother."

R.I.P.

|goodnight

Ms Naughty 2004-10-29 07:49 PM

RIP Finnbear My heart goes out to Mrs Finnbear, it was obviouse in his posts that he loved her very much
Sad News I really liked Finnbears posts they were like little snapshots into his life.
FinnBear has been on my mind all day, life is so fragile you just never know
I only knew him through his posts but still I feel sad, as though a good friend has passed away and
I remembered a reply I made in a thread to Kristion that I hope Finnbear read.
That way even though we never communicated I let him know that I iked him and appreciated his posts before he passed away.

"kristian
Thanx for the complement I actually enjoy the posts in the chit chat section from Finnbear Fonz and You because you guys give a peek into life in different Country's and Jim, his posts make me appreciate where I live because he's all ways just had a storm, having a storm or going to have a storm, He posted it was sunny today that must mean a storm is coming."

And just in case (you never know) I would like to let all GreenGuyandJim members to know, that I like allmost all of you

priest 2004-10-30 06:06 AM

FinnBear will be greatly missed.

I am lost for words to express my feelings upon hearing the sad news yesterday.

We were all fortunate to know him. We'll miss his kindness, unique personality and joy for life. FinnBear was one of a kind.

It is a small comfort to know he has touched so many lifes.

I'd like to think he would want us all celebrate life instead of grieving.

RIP my friend.

Sumrpal 2004-10-30 07:40 AM

This is very sad and shocking news indeed.

Finnbear was one of the good ones, never saying a harsh word about anyone, nor anyone of him. His posts were always a 'must read'.

My heart goes out to his wife and family.

|sad|

Thomas 2004-10-30 04:38 PM
