The other vehicle you can use if they copy the page or text to cloak for Google is called a DMCA - search this board for a post I made about it when a sponsor recently copied my pages and this is what happens when you get with Google about it:
http://www.chillingeffects.org/dmca5...?NoticeID=1501

Also they were removed however I still have a little over 6000 other sites still doing this to me and I dont have time to send 6000 DMCA notices - but I do have time to get lawyers involved :) unfortunately most of the scrapers that have my site copied and cloaked are in some of the old Russian states and Eastern Europe where its a little difficult to do anything legally.

Of course the best would be to just have Google figure out what is the original site and dump the copies - seems to me it would be simple but then - I thought that a year and a half ago when this problem first occured with Google and they still havent figured it out.

Google appears to have identifed that other webmasters pages as dupe content for that search. http://www.google.com/search?q=OnlyB...e=off&c2coff=1 .. so hopefully it isn't hurting you "too badly" at the minute.

I noticed you are back to #1 for one of those nichepornsite searches you posted Rocco.

I reckon Google will re-adjust sooner than later myself. Wouldn't go rushing out to hire any cheap seo experts yet anyway ;-)

Although for the sake of a couple of those LLs that did really well this time after a hard few months.. I hope it doesn't do another major shift too fast.

I imagine they would hurt... just meant it appears Google is already working on your side with that lot of pages so all hope is not lost imho ;-)

I believe that there is enough of space in the Google listings if all spam would be deleted.

Think that Google wants to list quality sites and not copied auto generated sites that are made steal traffic from quality sites like:

onlybestsex.com and **************.com

So if Google is working on cleaning their serps I wouldn't be worried that you will get listed less.

I agree Konsul... and think recent updates have been more about pushing Googles own capacity limits, instead of focussing on providing surfers the best results. I think google still believes that keeping their users happy is important though.. so expect this "mess" of an update is just a means to that end.

And unless they have made another quantum leap in their distributed processing system, it's hard to believe they can maintain an index this big.... ©2004 Google - Searching 8,058,044,651 web pages .... when it "looked" like they had been struggling with half that number not long ago.

Bummer Leon :( It can drive you nuts trying to decide what went wrong when multiple things fuckup at once!!

You have a quality site.. And you probably know this.. but I hope a few newer people notice what Bill and GG said in this thread... they don't over-analyse the SERPs.. or even react to them much.. If a webmaster follows any pattern too much (even if it's SE perfection) you are going to degrade your results over time.. best to make your main site the best it can be content wise... and put your "SEO" efforts into building a support network of sites around it using a range of different strategies.

By "suspension" do you mean your server was offline? If you had your site redirected to a host "account suspended" page, you can pretty much bank on the fact that it has caused you some issue with google results... much more than those 13,000 pages would imho (if that's the issue, it will reverse after 1 full round of fresh/deep spidering again though)

National-Net cut off the server We Love Free Porn is on for about 12 hours in August... (over a $21 oustanding invoice.. which was an error caused by their dim witted accounts woman) ... |angry|

Have a look at this graph.. hard to ever be certain about a cause when it comes to SERP changes.. but my experience leaves me 80-90% sure this particular "glitch" was purely due to the Host's actions.
