Well don't be suprised... your project just faced the reality.. don't blame other as they are the ones that potentially could loose something. You are going just to hotlink their content so you are about to loose nothing but they will have to pay bandwich bills and this 'brand marketing'... honestly I think it would work opposite way - you say share 1 million clips for free so I ask why the hell user shall be willing to pay signup fee if he can get all those free clips for free?

The problem is, you didn't come up with a new idea. You repackaged a very old idea, and presented it in such a way that it came across as, essentially, a scam. I'm not saying you're a scammer - I'm saying you look like one. If your posts make you appear untrustworthy, you might want to work on your posting style.

You're trying to pass yourself off as a business-minded person. Fine, then act like one. I have a nice handful of email addresses and I get more than my share of spam. Thirty a day? Try thirty an hour. It's called filtering software - look into it. (And please, don't expect anyone to believe that using a Yahoo address somehow relieves your of spam issues.)

I've looked at your posts. You are not a veteran in this business. There's nothing wrong with being a newbie, but please do not pretend you know more than those of us who have been making a living at this. Fresh ideas are always welcome. Your ideas are not fresh. That's not a flame, it's a fact.

Grow a thicker skin. "Constructive criticism" doesn't mean "criticism that agrees with what I already think." Humility will get you a long way, too. Instead of bashing everyone who disagrees with you, consider the possibility that they might be right.

Finally, I don't know whom precisely you're referring to when you use terms such as "warez kiddies", "yank kids", etc., but I think it's safe to say the vast majority of the posters here are professional adults, and your insults are wasted.

Rechannel some of your self-righteous anger into something constructive, and you may very well get somewhere in life.

Name ONE (1) place other than the "adult entertainment internet promotion industry" where you would even get an honest answer to your inquiries.

I used to work Corporate IT (spelled Fortune 100) and had my hands deep into the marketing and product development areas of one of the largest corporations on the Earth. The fact of the matter is, if you brought to the table a potentially viable plan and you didn't have EVERY duck in a row and could PROVE it was your idea, you'd be "out on your ass in a second" just to take out a potential "player" in the equation.

Think your idea is "Da Bomb"?! Great, put it together into a cohesive marketing and business plan with bullet proof evidence that it's your idea and vision. Put it on the table when you have said proof and pitch it to the people that you feel would be a good fit.

Just don't come onto a public board like this with your half-baked idea asking for advice/comments/criticism and then cry like a baby when you actually DO get honest feedback. Geez! Do you honestly think that anybody that has seen your posts will ever wish to conduct business with you, given your recent rants and insulting attitude?

John, you need to tone things down a bit I think. Not everyone here "flaming" you are "small minded yank kids".

Some people may honestly think your idea is not worth it. That handing out free clips to someone for the hope of traffic is not worth it.

Now...almost ALL sponsors offer sample videos on their tour and surfers download them ALL the time. So what's the difference if you as a sponsor just give a few to some guy with an idea that might drive traffic to you? Seriously?

I think the idea is fine if you want to brand your site more to all the surfers out there. Plus offereing a sample video or two is NO different than offering hosted video gallereis. Wake up, surfers "steal" those all the time.

This doesn't just apply to you nor does it just apply to adult - but the truly good ideas in business are those that people can not find holes in :)

John: Here is where your idea falls down: Quite simply, if is it such a great idea, why not do it yourself?

Buy some exclusive video content (it's not THAT expensive) watermark it to a filter domain, and distributie it for free and see what happens.

Use that data (number of people typeing in that URL) versus the amount of bandwidth used and use those numbers to promote your product.

An idea and $5 will get you a big latte at starbacks. You can also get it with just the $5.

As for DVDs, you may not have understood this, but many membership sites either don't have the rights for DVD distribution of thier own material, have signed those rights away, or would be concerned to have their material on DVD because the rules for obscenity are more easily applied to a tangible product. Many of them shoot their video at low enough quality that people would not be lining up to buy it if they saw it on a DVD. 1CCD camera stuff looks okay at 320X240 on a computer screen, but it looks like HELL on the TV screen.

Finally, if you are going to be in marketing, remember that it is ALL about marketing. If your idea is truly unique and new, and you really believe in it, it can stand to be seen in the light of day. You don't have to try to sneak it out the back door when nobody is listening. If you idea truly works and you have proof of it's financial viability, the membership sites will line up at your door to make cash.

Right now you are presenting a "fantasy" marketing idea with no numbers to back you up, no experience with the concept, no test run. no test market, no samples, and no way to show the actual expense / return ratios. Without all of those things, you would be laughed out of any company, adult, non-adult, or disney.

We aren't sheep. But many of the people in this room have been doing this since 1996 or 1997. We have seen things come and go, and we have seen really go ideas that have stopped panning out over time. The free site model is developed as a way to distribute content for free in return for viewing ads. We can provide empirical data that says "for everyone 1000 visitors to a free site, X will click on a banner, link, or otherwise do something productive other than whack off".

Until you can say for certainty that "for every 10mps server running full cap all month, you will get X surfers, Y% of which will go to your join page" and have the data to back it up, well, you are just a guy asking people to spend money and give away the one thing they are trying to sell in order to HOPE something happens (without proof that it will).

I know people who put carefully controlled clips of their content out on services like kazaa, bit torrent, and whatnot. But they use the benefits of the P2P network (You only pay a little bandwidth to get it out there... once it is out there, you can quit) and the long term nature of these file exchanges to get people to come to your site. The bandwidth / visitor ratio is within reason most of the time. However, the clips are often carefully edited to show limited action, to tease, or whatever. They are not sending out major clips from their paysite member's area for free. Moreover, many of them use Real encoding as it allows for popup windows to be encoded into the streams, which can help to drive people to the front door of the site.

It's just the facts. Prove us otherwise with real world numbers.

Well everyone has made some good points, i have not explained the idea well enough nor provided enough information or facts to back up my claims.

And yes i do need to tone it down, i have come across as a real asshole im sure, im just tired of seeing people "flaming" - thats all, not even just me im tired of seeing it everywhere - we should have an open discussion here, not putdowns, we can see many unnecasary posts here, along with some useful ones.

Having a paysite with exclusive content that I produced; after seeing how you reacted to the first negative comment to your idea. I would not particapate in your idea. Also I never take serious any webmaster that uses a free email in public or to contact me directly.
