I loved Wonderama! The host turned out to be a pedafile - LOL!

"Exersize, exersize, cum on everybody get your exersize" - LOL!!

The first time I ever saw a bagel was on that show.
They brought one on for the "What The Heck Is It" segment of the show. Know one knew what it was - LOL! It was from Lenders Bagels and everyone in the audience got a tiny bagel on a string necklace.

Most of the above, plus another - not a cartoon, but Romper Room.

Miss Lois said Happy Birthday to me in her Magic Mirror.

My brother used to be a hair dresser (not gay) and used to do her hair.

What a cool childhood memory.

Howdy Doody and Captain Kangroo were going strong when I was a kid
Micky Mouse is the first cartoon I can think of.
Am I getting old?

I loved Captain Kangaroo! And Mr Green Jeans and Dancing Bear.

I remember a lot of those cartoons, but what really sticks in my head is non-cartoons: The original Batman series; Kookla, Fran, & Ollie; Romper Room; Zoom; and The Electric Company.

I'm still a huge fan of Rocky and Bullwinkle to this day :D

My Mom used to watch Howdy Doody when she was a kid - lol!

I think I watched reruns of Captain Kangaroo - he died recently I think. I remember Mr. Green Jeans and the moose head with all the ping pong balls falling from the sky.

Well - lets see - we didnt have a TV - most people didnt - so Saturday mornings we would go to the local movie theater where we would have a matinee that usually included about an hour of cartoons, some magic tricks on stage from the local talent, some games and then a full length movie of something like Roy Rogers - all this and we got in for six bottle caps from pepsi bottles or on some weekends we actually had to trade in 6 pepsi bottle empties.
I dont think I saw a color TV until I was around 12 years old - and some kid in the neighborhood had the beatles cartoon show on

Okay, yep, ya got me. The old Cartoon Corners General Store! :D

Of course then there was Sally Star, and that hot chick Pixanne who had her own show (I was actually on that one when I was really young...and yes, she was hotter in person).

Now as far as 'cartoon characters' I'm not sure the earliest I remember, but the biggest impression was made by Woody Woodpecker cartoons at the movie theaters when I was a kid.

Most others, like Felix the Cat, had to deal with people being after them, or things that happened to them that they had to overcome. But not Woody. He'd wake up and be thinking "hmm... now who am I going to go out there and screw with today?"

I really liked the pro-active approach he took to life. Might have helped shaped some of my early views on things. ::grin::

Grape Ape, Mr. Magoo, Foghorn Leghorn, Smurfs, George of the Jungle,Rockie and Bullwinkle... The earliest TV shows I can remember are Land of the Lost, and HR Puff and Stuff, Captain Kangaroo, and Mr. Rogers. I think the Smurfs came out when I was like 9 or 10, something like that.
