just because there haven't been any arrest yet doesnt mean that their won't be and they are just covering their ass.
Myself i would actually look at the sites that did pull content because that tells me they are paying attention and they are serious about the business, and those that didnt pull their stuff if they were illegal I would think to myself HMM if they would cheat the law why wouldn't they cheat me or my surfers sooner or later. Just My 2 cents.

Obviously we hold opposing views. As I said in another thread all who notified me they were taking down their sites or content until the dust settles are welcomed back :)

Just for the record, the only sites I pulled over this latest flap were a few older sites promoting Topbucks that used Topbucks content. The content (with one exception) was all softcore and therefore not even subject to 2257, but the sponsor pulled the license to use that material and told all their affiliate webmasters to pull the content down, including banners. I also emailed all the relevant webmasters several days in advance.

Personally, I wouldn't want to be blacklisted merely for following a sponsor's ToS demands.

But you were doing that before before the new 2257 regs too! :)

I hope that you mean normal stuff that we all consider illegal, and not just what 2257 says.

I'm even considering taking down my 2257 pages that list the content suppliers, and replacing them with a nasty GFY Dubya banner.

Speeding is illegal, but I'd rather tip a pizza delivery person who speeds because I know my pizza is going to be hot. I never request a slow and conscientious driver when I'm hungry. ;)

forgive me for this post which I'm sure this has been gone over many times. but I've been on vacation for the past couple of months and am totally lost as to what exactly has changed with the 2257 laws. What needs to be done to be compliant? I've tried to read the legal shit but it doesn't make sense to me. So if someone could explain it in a normal language I would greatly appreciate it. Again, sorry for this post but I really need to understand whats going on. Thanks.

Dont worry about it. Enjoy the bliss of not knowing.

I don't think anyone should rag on those that pulled content, changed their content and banners, etc. Just because the Feds have not done anything yet, and just because they have changed the regs a little now, doesn't mean that they won't do a sweep of adult sites in the future. I never expected them to jump in on June 24th and jail a bunch of webmasters but just because a month has gone by, doesn't mean they won't drag a few in to check records. Hooray for those that said "fuck em"....but Hooray for those that did all they could to be in compliance....including me. Oh and I also joined the FSC....and again...so what? Any umbrella in a storm no matter how small ...... |peace| |peace| |peace|

I added "2257" as one of my word of the day passwords…

juggernaut 2005-07-24 03:32 PM

Ok Im going to tell why I joined the FSC. It was not cause of my site. It was totally cause I want Howard Stern to be free. lol.
