I wonder how much money AVN is saving by having both shows at the same time. I know how much they will be passing on to the webmaster....none.

I can see them offering some sort of combo pass for both shows, knowing that most people will not go to both & they will make an extra $100 or so of everyone that buys one.

Exactly my thoughts :) Since the majority of the webmasters are regular webmasters, the sponsors and other companies are losing out on a good source of input on how they can improve their business models.

SirMoby 2005-08-02 06:38 PM

I'm waiting for them to announce that you'll have to have a badge to even enter the Venetian. It's funny but I called the Westin in Florida and they don't know they're going to be closed to the public :)

Stop giving them ideas on how to make more money off us....

AVN's first priority has always been adult videos, and second has been sponsor programs. They don't even have an understanding of the independent adult webmasters role in the industry. Until some major sponsors notice that they're spending big bucks to set up booths and just talk amongst themselves will anything get done about it.

Maybe they can send FSC the same wake-up call. Neither organization seems to understand that for every sponsor and video producer there are thousands of independent adult webmasters.

Surfn 2005-08-02 07:10 PM

This past Vegas show I left after two days because the layout was so incredibly poor and there was no attempt to move people through the badge process in a timely fashion.

Still I did make a some new contacts in those few days I've consulted with a couple of sponsors here in the U.S. and One sponsor from the U.K. all their programs are/were good they were trying to tweak them even better.

I told myself when I left the last show in January that it was indeed my last show. And it is. As more and more of us experienced webmasters start dropping out of attending who will these sponsors turn to? I don't know that answer. As a businesses owner I do know that want the broadest input possible before arriving at a decision.

I believe the regional gathering will grow to be more effective. And so will the alternative gatherings, someone I know (lol) is planing a gathering in Virgin Islands on the same date as the Vegas show for webmasters who want to network ;)

Sorry about the long post but I can see the hand writing on the wall and if you can't...well you can't.

Tart's quoting you did give me an idea.....I'd be interested in co-sponsoring some sort of low-class event if you're interested in organizing it (since you're a local - lol)

I'm sure a couple of board members would chip in as well :)

I'm thinking a small friends only kinda thing...and oddly enough, most of my friends have more than 500 posts on this board :D

We could always pretend that we're "big" & make up VIP passes & have a secret location & a non-existant limo services |bananna|

Let's start with this...you know of a placve we could have a party - bar? I'd guess about 100 people (but we can put out feelers & invite lists on the board once we get moving)

docholly 2005-08-02 11:36 PM

BILFI hunter on the case!!

|cool|

bilfi=bars i'd love to fuck in. |dizzy|

Stupidest dumbass thing to do....
I like the old way, shows overlap, but it allowed to to get around to all three shows, including CES.
Dumbass move.
But if they are in the same hall, that will at least be an improvement. might make it more "palatable."

Love vegas...would like to LIVE in vegas....

While I appreciate smaller hotel bills due to a shorter stay; I have mixed feelings about the overlap. There isn't enough time for everything in the condensed version, and our show is going to end up lost in the shuffle since AEE is certainly more profitable for AVN.
Finally, we will end up overwhelmed with consumer types on our floor, diluting the ROI for booth owners; as well as educating far too many surfers about the backend of our industry.

So perfectly said, I think it needs to be posted again.

I don't think enough thought is being put into preventing this from happening (even by most of us here). But this could indeed be a problem if what it creates is an even larger class of surfers who will (almost) never pay for porn.

So for the extra $10-$20/night, you can just stary at the Venetion.

On a side note, I just booked my room at the Venetian.

One of the biggest problems of not staying there, was people who didn't, had trouble getting past security and up to the smaller private parties.
I remember various people having to "call up" and have someone come down to get them. If no one came (ahem) then they were SOL.

Greenguy 2005-08-03 12:07 PM

I've been asking for 3 cards when I check in so that I can give the extra one to people that stay at other hotels :)

Linkster 2005-08-09 05:46 PM

I guess this has been out for a while so I figure it wont hurt to post it - wondering how much stuff will change now that both the Xbiz awards and the Players Ball are going to be at WA in November instead of Vegas in Jan

Torn Rose 2005-08-09 07:41 PM

I was dead set on Vegas this year... now I am thinking of once again not going.

Erick G 2005-08-09 07:45 PM

They need to have an Internext in New York CIty or near NYC
I hate flying that far:(

From my understanding, this will NOT be the case.

The droolers (the public that attends the video show) will not be allowed into the internext show.

So I don't think your concerns are well founded.

Alex

Linkster 2005-08-10 08:18 AM

Alex - that is also the impression I got when talking with Aly - although the shows will be next to each other with the possibility of an open door between the floors - there would be some security to prevent the non-pass people getting into the Internext show, while still allowing the cross business flow

Ramster 2005-08-10 08:43 AM

Just so everyone knows I booked yesterday and the first "block" of rooms is sold out already. Can you believe that? Total crap. ANV sucks!

Now the rooms are $319 a night. I'm booked thankfully before they go to $500. LOL

Rose Tours still has rooms at the Flamingo for $169 and Imperial Palace still has rooms I hear too.

Greenguy 2005-08-10 08:59 AM

You know what's a wonderful thing about the hotel rooms going so quickly? I can't book a flight on Southwest (the only direct flight from Buffalo to Vegas) for another month. So I'll be at the mercy of the airline as far as the price, as I've already booked my room & pretty much have to travel on those dates.

Useless 2005-08-10 09:42 AM

I plan on stowing away in FoxyAngel's suitcase. |badidea|

Dr Bizzaro 2005-08-10 04:45 PM

I got our hotel and flight booked! |bananna|

Looking forward to this one......

Useless 2005-08-13 10:41 AM

OK, I need an Internext for Cocksuckers/Dummies lesson. I'm getting ready to book my room, so...I plan on arriving on the 4th. Is this a good plan, or should I not bother showing my ugly face until the 5th?

I'm not getting my flight yet, but when I do, should I get out of Vegas as early as possible, or is there something I should stick around for on the 7th?

Much love |blowkiss|
