Poor Tony!
That made me sick to my stomach. |
Oh man that’s awful. I agree Pornrex, news like that just gives you a sick feeling in your stomach. I have two sons 17 & 19, and I can imagine the pain he’s going through.
|
That's really sad, I just heard it on CNN :(
|
Horrible news:(
|
I remember watching Bucs' games and his son retrieving the T and helping him on the sidelines. Not sure it's the same son, but the timing & age seem about right.
Puts football into perspective. What a horrible thing to have it happen, especially at this time of year and to one who seems to be a generally good guy. :( |
|cry| I just heard it also! Tony Dungy is a great dad, does a lot in this area with father and son get togethers. His son was on the sidelines with him alot. Wow the holidays, the playoffs what a horrible time for this to happen. Damn this world |angry|
|
I do not think this is the same son, the one on the sidelines has long hair, this one doesn’t (unless he got it cut off in the last 2 weeks) and if I recall they had a story about the son on the side lines (Scott I want to say is his name) was 14 and in a round table of other NFL coaches they was talking about how involved they are in the game during the game and Tony told the story that a asst coach came up to him during a game and said "Scott is ok", Tony said "OK....Scott who?" Turned out Scott was his son who got nailed by a player forced out.
I could be wrong, but I am pretty sure he had more then one kid. Either way this is terrible news. |
“The coach and his wife, Lauren, have four other children: daughters Tiara and Jade, and sons Eric and Jordan. James was taking extension classes at the University of South Florida, Morgan said.”
Ok, so I am terrible with names… so it wasn’t Scott. "James stood 6-foot-7 and was sometimes mistaken for one of his father's players, The Indianapolis Star reported on its Web site. James and his younger brother Eric sometimes watched Colts games from the sideline, but they had to earn it by doing well in school." |
Is it me? Or is listening it Bill Curry doing color on a NCAA game worse than fingernails across a chalkboard. |shocking|
|
Tonight is the end of an era; Monday Night Football has its final show on ABC and will move to ESPN for at least the next 8 years. Al Michaels will continue being the commentator and will be joined by Joe Thiesman as Madden moves to NBC and Sunday Night Football.
CNNSI has a “Top 10” MNF moments where the #1 moment is Dec 8, 1980 as Howard Cosell announce John Lennon has died. |
noooooo Not Joe Thiesman. Please don't tell me that.
|
Of the 3 currently on ESPN Sunday Night, I would have thought the other 2 would be up for the job and Joe would be on a sideline somewhere....
|
I think Maquire (sp?) is just as big of an idiot, and I can barely watch some of the Sunday night games because of the pair of them. The play by play guy isn't that bad though. But, the fact that I can't recall his name right now is probably one of the reasons he didn't get the job. (that and I'm sure Al will be doing the play-by-play)
|
For those who missed it, the Pats beat the Jets in the last MNF on ABC 31-21, the Jets also lost to the Browns 31-21 on the first MNF on ABC.
Also Vinny became the only player in NFL history to throw at least one TD pass in 19 straight seasons, he was tied with Unitis and Fran for 18 when he connected with a great throw/catch Coles with 1:10 left and this was also the first NFL game in history to have two 40+ year old QB's throw a pass as Flutie also got into the game. Al Michaels also said that “this is the final Horse Trailer of the game” so I wonder who has the rights to it and why it isn’t being used on ESPN or NBC. |
Anyone else watching the Alamo Bowl and if so, is this officiating not the worse you have ever seen? I have never seen so many bad calls, no calls and slow calls in one game before, it’s like none of the refs want to be the one that has to make a call. It is so bad even the announcers are making fun of them. This group of refs are from the Sun Belt Conference and I think they need to go back there and let the BCS schools have a real officiating crew.
|refs| |bigfuckin |
Michigan got fucked, the refs cost them the game, for those who have not seen it, turn on ESPN, we was 12 yards from topping "The Play" (Cal vs Stanford when the Band caom on the field) the refs let 50+ Nebraska players run on the field and I mean all over the field WHILE THE PLAY WAS STILL ALIVE AND NO FLAG???????
UM did a great job and almost got the TD when it was 11 vs 60+ These refs need to be banned from the NCAA. |
Torn
I did not see it but that is fucked. Sounds like there should have been a flag. Monday Night Football will be missed. On ESPN next year which in Canada we don't get but I'm sure our sports station will pick it up like it does the Sunday night games. Here's a rant. Anyone else sick and fucking tired of hearing how goddam great Brett Favre is when he is playing? It's to the point I can't even watch the games with Madden and evey other announcer saying noone could do what Favre does, blah blah blah. I like the guy. He is a good player and was once great! But give it a fucking rest. |
video can be seen here
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/recap?gameId=253620158 I agree, Brett was great at one time, but his time has come, I will miss his play, but this year proved he needs to go. |
Brett Favre is a great QB.
He desperately needs to be traded (that won't happen) to a team that has a decent front line with more capable/proven not injury prone wideouts and backs. The Pack D has been crummy all year which puts a little more pressure on him to try to drum up ANYTHING. Too bad he quite possibly won't sign elsewhere where there is a team that needs an arm and has everything else already to go. |dizzy
Great game!
Penn St vs Florida St was much better then I expected, so far we are in the 3rd over time. this game had it all. PENN ST WINS!!!!!! Awsome game! |
The Rose Bowl has alot to live up to, this was one of the better bowls I ever seen, only OSU/Miami comes close IMO.
5 hours of football.... gotta love it! |

Blocked Field Goals, OK thats good football. A reciever or his defender slipping, falling cuz the coverage/route running is two guys stepping into each others steps at full speed. THAT's good footall. Slips and Misses..........nope not great ball. It was a fun game to watch but it was no SC-ND at southbend. Tomorrow, The longhorns will pay the price for being ranked number 2. |club| Now THATS gonna be fun.|thumb |
The Rose Bowl is not going to come any where near as good. Whether your a Texas fan or a USC fan it's gonna be big one way or the other...My $$$ is on USC big. But no matter which way it goes...it wont even be close.

Dude, I contract to USC and I'm not going to bother watching the game (and yes I actually have a couple large on the game) because the game will be over before the first quarter.
and thats NOT interesting football! |

Every touchdown and every fumble recovery is gonna make the smoke of my cigars that much tastier. there's nothing like watching family be giants on the field.|thumb |
gee sorry didnt mean to offend, since I know nothing on sports, here I thought it was a great game.
Next time I will just watch to see who is dating who. |
A REAL game is the struggle for every yard, every pass, every kick, every 1st down....not a one sided slaughter...those are....boring! |yawn| Even when it is MY Alumni. I either go to bed when those happen or find some work to do.
And who gives a fuck if the quarter back's sister is dating an opposing player......give me the damn game.|angry
I enjoyed the FSU v Penn St. game myself, along with the Texas Tech v Alabama game. The Peach Bowl stunk (unless you an LSU fan) and the Alamo Bowl was a fiasco due to the officiating.
Just hope the Rose Bowl can keep my attention. |

Its a sports thread! no hurt feelings allowed! |

Sports??
i thought you guys meant Sports.... just kidding
Liverpool FC (thats Soccer) lifelong fan here for 40 years we just keep winning and winning|bananna
I just have to say that it was a week of excellent Bowl games. (even though they somehow had #3 playing #22) Lots of good viewing for sports fans.
It didn't hurt that in the last 3 games the teams I wanted to win, won. :D |
Texas won the Rose Bowl! Yee freaking haw! Finally, a Texas football team wins something.
My home state has been redeemed |

You da man! |
Damn, I was hoping to find out what I thought of the game in here this morning. Guess I will have to wait.
I may be wrong and I'm sure I'll be told I am by the experts, but Vince Young dominated last night and I think he should be the #1 pick if he goes to the NFL. Why on earth would he stay? If Houston was smart they would get him and trade Carr, Young is by far a batter athlete and now he is a Texas god, so he will also fill seats. But what do I know. |
