I was at the Apple store yesterday because I wanted to play around with Finalcut Express. I'm thinking of getting this to work with movies for when I need something with more features then iMovie has.

Anyway I was there for over a hour working with Finalcut Express trying to decide if it would fit my needs but I kept on being distracted by the iPhone that was also hooked up to the iMac that I was using.

I'm still waiting to see if Apple releases a 3G version of the iPhone but being able to pick one up for $100 off is really making it hard to wait.

I can vibrate too :D

I won't buy it in the near future, I promise you.

And when is this little beast coming to The Old Continent (Europe)?

It looks great, but I don't want to buy it...I have SE and it's good for me...

For those who are interested in using the iPhone on other carriers or maybe in other countries, here's a story about the first hacked iPhone.

Teen trades hacked iPhone for 'sweet' car

The teenage hacker who managed to unlock the iPhone so that it can be used with cellular networks other than AT&T will be trading his reworked gadget for a new car.

Apple just announced that the 8 gig model is now going for $399.

I wonder if they are clearing out innovatory because a newer model will be out soon?

Simon 2007-09-05 06:07 PM

Nice... and they added info that the 4GB iPhone is now selling for $299

In case you bought an iPhone already

This letter from Steve Jobs promises a $100 credit if you bought an iPhone before the price reduction...

Plus I'm waiting just for more nice apps to be created before I jump. As of right now except for speed I'm happy with my 8125.

Cheers,

By the way, a friend of mine who's a senior tower tech told me that Christmas may bring G3 (UMTS) iPhones. This is not a sure thing but Cingular/AT&T is upgrading the G3 equipment in prep for SOMETHING and it's exactly what they did to prep for the original EDGE capable iPhone.

Jay Levy says he has been stung by Apple's iPhone pact with AT&T after he took an Iphone on a Mediterranean cruise.
They didn't use their phones, but when they got back they had a 54-page monthly bill of nearly $4,800 from AT&T Wireless.

The problem was that their three Iphones were racking up a bill for data charges using foreign phone charges. The Iphone regularly updates e-mail, even while it's off, so that all the messages will be available when the user turns it on.

Levy is fuming, claiming that Apple and AT&T were acting like a bank which has automatic access to your ATM machine and is siphoning money out during all times of the day and night.

Normally it does not cost US users for domestic data transfers, but the Iphone's international plan in 29 countries, mostly in Europe, costs $24.99 for 20 megabytes.

Apple spokeswoman Natalie Kerris points out in its terms and conditions that it will cost an arm an a leg to use an Iphone out of the US even if no services are intentionally used.

Nope, actually Off means Off

Actually, the iPhone doesn't do that while it's off, so it's possible that Jay Levy may be just a whiny git who should've RTFM in this instance. More about this 'problem' at page below.

Like I said earlier the towers here have already have 3G UTMS on them and it's niiiiice. That's what I'm going to wait for. Not going to get a 400 dollar phone to just end up wanting the next version down the road shortly. I'm also wanting them to have more space on the things like the iPod touch has.

Cleo 2007-09-12 11:30 AM

The only reason that I didn't get one this summer is lack of 3G although it is real tempting to pickup one of the $299 closeouts to use until then.
