I’m a Imus fan, it pissed me off when I reached over at 4AM this morning to turn Imus In The Morning on and got Al Rocker and assorted call in guests bitching about Imus crossing that imaginary line.
Why wasn’t he fired for calling Bush a Buffoon?
Why wasn’t he fired for implying that Dick Cheny convinced a very simple minded George Bush to go to war so he could get kick backs from Halliburton?
Where was the Gay Community when Imus went off on Cheny’s Lesbian Daughter?
Where was the overweight community when he was teasing his chubby sports announcer about his upcoming wedding?
Why haven’t the Democrats or the Clintons shut him down for having a Bill Clinton Impersonator on once or twice a week.
My point is Imus doesn’t single out anyone, if your in the news chances are he’s going to make fun of you.
Imus sure as hell didn’t coin the phrase “nappy haired ho’s” (you know it had to have been a black man) So lets all forget about Imus raising over 100 million for charities or his camp for kids with cancer, crucify the man he crossed the line.

I'm not sure I could call myself an Imus fan, as I probably saw parts of his simulcasted broadcast on MSNBC only a few times per month. I've seen enough to have a broad idea of who he is. His politics were all over the place, and not always in line with my own. That always bugs me.

Anyone who claims that Imus has had a track record of offensive, possibly racist, comments over his almost 40 year career in broadcasting, I can only say - fuck yeah! I'm in absolute agreement. |thumb He was the original shock jock, so of course he has made his fair share of offensive remarks. Big whoop! Offensive is funny. Racism is funny, unless you're a racist and don't get the joke. ;)

That bitch (with a capital CUNT), Ann Coulter, recently referred to presidential hopeful, John Andrews, as a faggot. Very offensive remark. Lots of people bitched. But she's still on the conservative/nazish talk shows all the time. I didn't even hear of a single book burning event.

Get the point?

No I won't because this is not my workplace it's a forum where Freedom of Speech is in effect.

I did remove my comment in my sig file which seemed to start all this.

I'm mad because he singled out a group that didn't deserve it is all. Nothing to do with racism or freedom of speech. But then I figured by me posting Imus is an asshole I was lowering myself to his level. Which would be REALLY insulting.

Anyone that hasn't noticed the text above my avatar should read it & then leave if you're offended, because the right Free Speech means the right to offend people.

I am so shocked that anybody cares that Imus got fired. If you ask me they are all a bunch of idiots making millions of dollars complaining about other people

I love MSNBC but I could never get into an idiot in a cowboy hat doing a radio show on TV. You dont watch radio, you listen to it

I love ya Tommy, but I disagree with you on a couple points:

1 - the point really isn't if you liked or disliked Imus - we all have remote controls & we all know how to turn the channel if we see a show that we don't like.

2 - I do like to watch radio - and others do as well. I have PalTalk (a webcam service) so that I can watch Opie & Anthony while the show is going on. Stern had that show on E! for years. There's a number of sports radio shows that are broadcast on TV. I think part of it is that the radio show is not available in every market, but pretty much everyone has cable, so more people will listen/watch.

Sue, they weren't singled out. People act as if he spent half an hour discussing those b-balling chicks. It was a passing comment which was merely a reaction to a lead-up by another person. It's not as if the producers of the show gathered in a conference before the show said, "hey, let's insult the Rutgers' Womens Basketball team." Unsuspecting people are insulted everyday on radio and tv. Most of them take it in stride, realizing that it is what it is - a total stranger making millions of dollars entertaining his/her listeners. ;) Nothing more. If they feel truly harmed by it, well they must be unusually weak in the character department.

racist, i dont think so. Rude, yeah sure. Honestly i think people are way to sensative. If he had said "those blonde haired bitches" would white people be offended because blonde hair is predominately a "white" trait?

I guarantee if he had said "those mens basketball team players are a bunch of big dick bastards" in referance to the black players not 1 black person would call to despute the stereotype.

Noone notices that he said how cute the tennessee players were, who are predominately black. He was referring to their hair, not the fact that they were black.

Next time he says something public, he should talk shit on chubby, straight haired, graying men so Big Al can call that racist towards him.

Here is a new site i found http://www.nappyheadedho.com
