oh my ...thats how i think:D

The one time I lost weight as an adult, and kept it off a year and a half, I lost 8# the first month (that was the strictest as far as food) and 3 - 4# a month after that. I agree with Sheep Guy, most doctors will tell you to aim for no more than 1 - 2 lbs a week.

I'll be going back on that eating plan. It is really strict, but it is what worked. No flour, no sugar, and lots of veggies, some fruit and protein so pretty much a balanced diet. :) And given my workouts right now, I might gain before I lose, because I always add muscle faster then I lose fat, lol. |thumb

Yea but I did this and had my cholesterol shoot right through the roof, so watch it this isn't the healthiest diet in the world. One of the reasons I'm vegetarian....keeps my cholesterol under control....and I hate the taste of most of it too, lol. I was on the cheese and chicken diet, it got really boring.

I have to agree with you and cheepguy and the docs and i realy mean that...but i am a stubburn person .......i cant help it, but yes, to all others its better to loose weight in a controled way...less weight like 1 or 2 lbs a week....not for me but i am an very unhealthy person and this is the way how i diet since the age of 15 but i have to say when i am going to follow a diet i do exersize for at least 3 hours a day intil i notice that muscles gain weight for me, you can train your body in several ways...building muscles or correct your body lines (which is for the ladies) i go for the correction of my body thing......and i know some age it will hit me and it wont work again anymore, but till now it still works, but again like the others say and the docs, its not a healthy way!

the diet i followed, you have to eat carrots and tomatoes too, those things will lower your cholesterol again. i think the diet licker said wont have those in it to eat...still its a funny diet...you can eat the things you like and loose weight, as long you dont eat bread and patatoes and pasta

Yea my cholesterol is now 175 down from 286 at its top when I was doing Atkins. I'm the only one in my family below 200...my dad's was 400 when he had a heart attack, so runs in the family. Found it was either statin drugs or be a vegetarian...I'll take vegetarian. |virgohippy|

I am in how you name it......the getting old thing, so i am fucking around with my hormons, doc warned me for high cholesterol, specially with the diet i follow all the time, but he had to agree with me, the carrots and tomatoes will fix that. I never could be an vegetarian, i realy like meat.

The Atkins diet, and no, you're not supposed to stay on it forever, he even says so. But to lose weight and see progress so you dont get discouraged and give up, you cut out a lot of carbs in the beginning. Then, when you near your weight goal you start adding in good carbs like fruit, nuts and vegetables that have carbs but they also have fiber which offsets the carbs. After you hit your goal you just have to keep the carb intake under control. It worked for me and I never felt hungry. |bananna| (only problem was I didn't control the carb intake after I lost weight)

Twiceshy 2008-09-02 05:31 PM

Well in honor of this diet contest tonight i am making my last meal LOL that will be
Buffalo steaks with onions and peppers with sour cream mashed potatoes and fresh mixed veggies from the garden and for dessert chocolate cake with thick chocolate icing with ice cream.

After tonight it will be no pop or starches mostly veggies and fish and skinless chicken.

Toni KatVixen 2008-09-02 06:28 PM

Once you 1st start a diet, you may lose quickly. But after the 1st week or two, the healthy amount to lose is about #2 a week, according to my trainer.

I still have about 15-20 to ideal only #8 to my "realistic" weight due to age and hormone changes that come with. I've been meeting with a trainer since March, going to take a few weeks off from the trainer and focus on the cardo and pick it back up in Oct. We go to the gym Mon-Fri.

Torn, unfortunately, can eat all he wants and still loses weight. Makes me want to smack him for being a male. |greenguy| I, on the other hand, keep a food journal and average 1500-1800 calories a day. My trainer wants me to eat only about 200-250 at time and eat every 2-3 hours to help build a higher metabolism. And it works, I'm hungry all the damn time.......|loony|

There is nothing like running through an airport, in what you thought were comforty pants, and having to hold them up from falling off your ass and carrying #10 in the back pack didn't help.:D

LeRoy 2008-09-02 06:41 PM

DAMN :(

I just lost 30 LBS. over the last 12 months. I'm on the way back up though.

I'll blame it on the sports bar and grill(my part time jobby).

Since my diet has been Pizza, burgers, fries, chicken wings , tacos and 22 oz Fat Tires. ehehehe I said fat tire :)

gee that made me hungry. Sorry about that.

OK if I weigh myself tomorrow and I weigh 175(which will be 15-20 elbows overweight). Then I'm in

Useless 2008-09-02 06:57 PM

My wife is dieting and she's currently at 120 lbs. I'm going to ask her to join in because I'm sort of curious about what she'd look like at 95 lbs.

Licker4U 2008-09-02 07:45 PM

Damn Greenie, since I saw this thread I feel all bloated, stuffed and uncomfortable. I look down and see whale blubber. I need to get down to my fighting weight (this was posted in a thread for UW since he likes seeing boxers|haha )

Bed Bath & Beyond keeps sending me 20% off coupons in the mail, I've used two and have one left. Guess where I'll be buying a scale... |huh

Mr Exotic 2008-09-02 07:47 PM

I was just telling the old lady I needed to lose weight again. We went to the baby doctor (I posted about her being pregnant in Jan, but she lost it in Feb, but got pregnant again and now is due Jan 5th) and he told her if she went on her current weight gain trend she would weigh 220 pounds by the time she had the baby, so even though she is pregnant she is going to try to start watching what she eats, so thats how losing weight got brought up today. And we found out we're having a girl today, so we're pretty happy about that.

Anyways, I'm far to broke to put any money in, but I'll use this as a way to keep myself motivated :) I used to weigh 335, got down to 184 last year, which was far too skinny for me, everyone was telling me I looked like shit and sickly, so I started letting myself gain some weight, I felt great at 205-210, but it created a bad cycle for me and now I find myself all the way up to 240 again. I could stand to lose 30-40 pounds.

dunc 2008-09-02 09:23 PM

Is there any rules... or is it no holds barred extreme dieting?

GMPcash-jack 2008-09-03 01:14 AM

im in. in fact im eating a subway sandwhich. jered is my hero.|gaycheer|

Licker4U 2008-09-03 01:28 AM

Moi?.....:D

stuveltje 2008-09-03 01:37 AM

i went on that damn scale this morning, there is no way i am gonna use the lbs thing, i stick with the kilos thing:D (i weight less on the kilos thing) or my mobile phone is just a very heavy one......yep i think thats the reason.

digifan 2008-09-03 07:08 AM

I hope you don't mind me not joining in but if I start losing weight, all's left would be the wheelies. I would like to eat fancy meals instead... but they are expensive or hard to swallow after the latest surgeries.

bluebrit 2008-09-03 07:19 AM

I was going to do this too because I was getting to the point that I couldn't button my 38" jeans. However since I started renovating the new place I've lost what I wanted to so now I can eat what I want while watching how you all do :D

Good luck with the weight loss and if anyone wants a harsh training regime that's sure to burn calories, I still have plenty of walls to clean down and paint |thumb

That said I hear sex is great for burning calories so you could stay in bed and fuck like rabbits for a week and come out skinny :D

MrMaryLou 2008-09-03 07:37 AM

I would do this but its too far of a walk to the nearest Weigh Station :D

10% of your weight is hard to loose via any extreme method, unless you're talking about hacking off a limb, which we do not condone.

You ever hear of those companies that force their employee's to work out & take physicals? I think I might become one of those companies by the end of the work day.

I'm serious.

****

I'll post an "official" thread this afternoon when I get back from my Dr's appt's, so get your scales & camera's ready |thumb

Well I will break the scale with you all :) My goal is much bigger than 10% so it may take a few of these contests :)

Ive been up and down my whole life, mostly up. I commend everyone that is getting in on this. And honestly no matter who wins, the end results will be a healthier "you" for everyone. Im unofficially in. I had started just prior to the BBQ..and am looking to continue on through next summer. Im in for the long haul, and will root everyone on as well as work on my own weight loss goals. |headbang|
