Those photos are insane. This whole season of extreme weather reminds me of that movie, The Day After Tomorrow. |sad|

Just got our cable back. |bananna| I had no idea how reliant I was until I didn't have web access or local news. We didn't lose power at all. I was watching my huge bamboo trees bounce on the ground and come back up through a tiny hole in my plywood. Amazing how flexible they are. Caught up on my reading. Baked chocolate chip cookies from scratch...It was not fun and we only had 75 mile an hour winds. I can only imagine what it was like on the East coast. Glad everyone else is okay.

Oh well, back to the grind and watching the tropics. Seems like we should have a clear weeked here for a change. Yay! |bananna|

Thank you so much for your thoughts and words here!

We made it through Jeanne. We just got power back last night. More fencing down and more screens around the pool. But the house stood up real well.

The storm was still nailing us the next morning when we got a call from the hospital telling us my brother had a rough night and would probably pass away that day so we needed to get down there. No one was on the roads, it was still too soon, but we rushed over there dodging downed trees and powerlines only to find out later that the nurse was a little premature. His body is showing all the signs of the beginning stages of shutting down. But he's a physically fit & healthy 24 year old. It can take awhile to fight it even without brain function. So, now we wait. We go to the hospital, because we can't seem to make ourselves realize he's not really there anymore, it's just machines making him breathe, etc. His temp was 105 degrees last night, I can't see his body taking that for long either. There's nothing else anyone can do for him, but keep him comfortable until his body accepts that his brain is done.

But, I'm taking a lot of comfort knowing he's really gone, this is just a shell. I know he'd be pissed at us for hanging on, so I got to start thinking differently. And I've got two bottles of Arbor Mist chillin' in the fridge for tonight with my name on them! I'm thinking...take the pool net out there with an ice bucket and relax, sip, and skim.

Enough of the depressing stuff...any other Jeanne/Frances/Ivan/Charlie survivors needing food, shelter, ice, showers, laundry...you know all those minor conviniences my place is open and waiting. I know just how miserable it is, so please don't think twice.

Porn Princess I'm glad to see you are safe and sound.

Sorry to hear about your brother, I had to go through that with my mom. |sad|

At least we don't have volcanos and earthquakes.
