Flow and fitting with the site is one key area.. I really hate a warning page with two TGP galleries tacked on the back... it's lazy, a waste of time and any newbie can do that... shit I could do it and pump out 100 free sites a day..

A free site is just that - "a site" - not a couple of stray pages tacked together.

The one I hate the most though is supposed "free sites" that are just a warning and main page in front of two sponsor downloadable galleries. Yeah it's easy, but again any newbie can do that(and they do), and again it is a waste of time to then try an submit that as "your own work" because it aint!

..and just to add on while I am at it... Sites built around sponsors shit me too... feel free to build em and use them, I do, but I dont submit em to anyone..

Sites are about building around the content of the said site.. not around the name of the sponsor you are using. Alot more people would get listed if they focussed on their content instead of on their sponsor.

It's really interesting reading this...now i don't write in many posts but here is something that bothers me...I do understand the asthetics of "free sites" and how most ll owners want some style to it, that being said here is a huge problem i have...

Most times i've read a reviewer or ll owner posting in her they talk about how these little (excuse my french) piece of shit sites should have personality and should look good and crap like that, but the POINT of a free site is to sell a sponsor as is the point of a LL! Everyone here has the same goal to make as many sales as possible...i understand the need for rules and making people follow them...but i also think you guys need to take step back and remember why other people and YOU are in this business! It is not i believe to provide free porn to surfers. I think almost every LL owner out there has banners on his/her site and try and sell their own sponsors...so isn't it the point that we all are trying to do the same thing and saying that people who do it differently than you want should be blacklisted is STUPID!

What if all the submitters out there dried up and stopped submitting to you? what would you do then? Sponosr hosted galleries or make your own sites? Remember it is all a trade off we need you and you despit what some say need us!

Well I hope i don't get blacklisted for voicing my opinion but remember it is just my opinion and take it as such!

Opinion's are like assholes everyone has one!

I can tell you noone from this board would blacklist you for having an opinion. Tell someone to FO and call them names, maybe. lol

You make a valid point. But a lot of link sites have rules saying do not use the same templates over and over again. And all LL want the submissions but they need to clean somewhat decent looking sites to get the surfer back to the link site. Why? So when he does go to one of the free sites (or a banner) he might actually see something he likes (like a new sponsor or site) and buy. But we all need him coming back to have that chance.

It is a rule like the others and if someone continues to submit the same damn templates over and over again (not saying Jensen did that, just an example) then blacklisting is the only way to stop having the admin areas filled with sites that will never get listed.

But really you think blacklisting is the only way out of this? Why not have partner only submissions and send the webmaster an e-mail saying "please stop submitting the same template you have done the same template five days in a row try changing up your site!"

This takes two seconds and i'm sure the webmasters submitting would appreciate it!

mpahlca: The rules are stated clearly for everyone. Webmaster should be able to tell when they have taken the same site and built it with a different color background only for a week that maybe they are using the same template too much.

When you email someone about a problem (I am not listing your site because *whatever*), too often it turns into a back and forth that gives no results. Banning or blacklisting a domain or email is often the best and only effecient method to get a person's attention.

That is why most link sites don't send out refusal emails, because it just leads to painful wastes of time on all sides.

ok, now i know the rules are posted and i always check them! however i have had a site turned down with a reason that wasn't on the list...so the only way i knew i what i was turned down for was the e-mail, that is the way hoes.com works i always get an e-mail saying why i wasn't listed and i can always re-submit the site when the site meets these requirements...now is this perfect NO but, it makes a hell of a lot more sense than just blacklisting someone because YOU don't like their site! I have had sites accepted by the link-o-rama that are totally slammed by another webmaster because he/she didn't like my particular layout!

Now you see it is in the best interest of everybody to be equally respectful to one-another.

That's my point here i know there are assholes who submit crap everyday and try and submit 30 sites a day to clearly marked 1 site a day ll but I believe that if we treat this as a business and work our asses off to make everyone treat it like a business then some of the crap that happens in this BUSINESS might stop. (read stealing.)

I take 30 pics, almost always in a series, and make two galleries for TGPs and then I take those exact same galleries and add a main page and warning page to make a free site. I do use the same background, colors, style and theme throughout all the pages. I use an external stylesheet to make building easy for me. I have no problems getting listed everywhere with what I build.

My free sites do have 30 pics which is 10 more then needed, but I don't see the need to go through all the trouble of editing out 10 pics just because free sites only need 20 pics. Anyway I find 15 pics to be an ideal amount of pics when designing a page.

Would you mind posting a link to one of your free sites, I'd like to take a look?

Thanks ;)
Bryan
